I am interested in swapping out my nav screen for something of this decade. I was searching and found this. I have seen alot on the tesla style, but nothing on this. Sorry if this is only new to me!

I don't see any HVAC controls on that guy - I suspect you'd need to do a no-nav conversion first.

I'm gonna throw up a caveat emptor on this one: this unit appears to have a *mini* USB port in the front. That's a pretty dated standard, and why not a USB Type A port? Or am I totally off-track here.

Also, like JLee noted, no HVAC. Bummer.

Maybe I need to talk to some developer buddies about building a standalone, RaspberryPi-based HVAC control unit...one with a little screen or hard-key pad (cuz, options) that liberates the darn Nav screen for all time.

Definitely not ideal but still usable. Still, the Tesla "style" unit has a much bigger screen. You have no idea how much nicer it is to use than the screen on standard or Toyota-sized NAV.

Rant: You have no idea ho much I need NAV when navigating the surface streets here...the locals always laugh when I show them how nice and square the streets/blocks are on a California map...then point out how their maps looks like spaghetti. Not to mention there are soo many unnamed roads and the address numbers are assigned in the order each building in the are are built...teh stoopid, it hurts!

the prado 9" android conversion seems like a better option than that. Runs about $300ish
Haven’t seen any info on that! Is this a common swap?

Few threads on here regarding it. It isn't perfection but it's leaps and bounds ahead of anything else available and makes your dash look modern.

Oh haha I thought you were talking about a factory Prado screen, not the 10.4!

I don't know where the $300 figure came from

You can find it on alibaba for around $400ish but you will need to do some setup and tweaking and the instructions are only in Chinese. Not too difficult but then Phoenix seems to offer good customer support and they have their own version of the software so while it will cost you a bit more, you're paying for assurance and support.

Wrong thread!
