Hello everyone I was wondering if anybody had any leads or suggestions in acquiring a Troopy? I am finally in the position to purchase one and am looking for referrals in regards to tracking one down and importing. I have gone back and fourth for years between going to Australia and importing one myself but have decided that a LHD is what I'm after. Since this decision involves knowing a different language, it would be nice to have someone able to communicate rather than trying to head somewhere and wing it with a broken understanding of the language at best. I see there are a few companies as well as individuals out there importing cruisers of all kinds but the fact is: It is putting a lot of faith in someone with the importance of finding a solid rig, and finding it at a fair price. Anyway if anyone has any leads or suggestions positive or negative it would be appreciated!

Looking for:
79+ fj45/47 LHD diesel with jump seats still in-tacked.

Other then Australia you have Germany which are LHD and there are 3 or 4 on mobile.de the 2 top ones are I think 26,000 and the other 2,000 more.

Another area Saudi and area which are really clean.

Australia is RHD.

Thanks for the replies so far. Definitely like the Idea of Germany but looks like there is a definite mark up over there. I've seen a ton of threads on importing but none from Europe. Anybody import from Europe? Any idea of importation costs?

LHD European Troopy

Here is mine. France to Germany to Canada to California.

I along with Georg from Valley Hybrids have big plans for the Troopy including a newer Toyota diesel w/5 Speed, disc brakes, power steering.

As said above, don't restrict the search to Germany. France has a small but solid Cruiser following. Probably other EU countries as well.

The disadvantages to Cruisers from middle east and south/central america (3rd world locales) is they are often 3rd world spec (no: HVAC, disc brake, hazards, roll bar, shoulder belts, etc) and they have been beat hard & poorly repaired.

TMACK picked 1 up last year that was a RHD converted to LHD

that is also an option.

Can anybody vouch for this fellow? Looks like he has some decent rigs listed on ebay and he says he can get a Troopy, just not to sure since he doesn't have much feedback as a seller.

I would "Fly In Freddie" just to be sure about it.
