Finally got around to lifting up the tent trailer, did a spring over and added some 13" wheels and larger tires . I still need to install the pipe mount tounge jack and figure how to find super small shocks.????? Still pulls nice and true.

Here are some before and after shots.....

Yes there are kits available for some axels that are a bolt on deal.
The axel I have is a Dexter 1-3/4" and they dont make a kit for that size.
Dexter does however make a kit for the next size up. All I did is weld 2 new perches on the other side , pretty straight forward (sans the warn hardware and loose wheel bearings)

Thanks ken
I'm kicking around the idea of getting a new axle made to my spec's with 6X5.5 hubs to match my cruiser and maybe pop some longer springs under it since those little guys make it jump around like a 3 yr old the day after Halloween :D

one can do a SOA the redneck way without the brackets and all too. Worked for me. Had to play with the electric brake wires though.
Sadly, it is but wishful thinking to believe that these trailers will survive more than a few miles of washboards or rough roads, lift notwithstanding...

I hear you there , I'm looking for a higher clearance not alot of offroading with it as I have a RTT for that . With the bigger tires and better springs to cut down on that horrid ride it has on road too plus get the better camping spot away from others with the extra clearance :grinpimp:
My cousin who lives in Moab has taken his Starcraft all over the place out in UT and 4corner area to the point he wore out the tires on the trailer and it held up well for what he was doing with it .

I thought this way for the longest time , but now I dont know . I went through all the cheezy cabinets and hit all the seams with construction adhesive or silicone sealant ( depending where it was) I also installed more fasteners in missed and new locations with Gorilla glue. In the bigger gaps like around the appliances I hit them with expandable foam , all these little things really firmed things up!
With shocks on the way and a little frame reenforcement I think it will do ok.

In a week I will drag the thing through DV! so we will see.....:popcorn:

Well I put it to the test , It did better than expected . Cant really say that about the paint.

Now I need to make some kinda rock guard or mud flaps or both.???

She took some beatin'....sweet mod though!!

How much was the control difference by raising the few inches?

Nice Ken
What I would do is have a piece of alloy diamond plate bent up to cover that .
I think the older Starcraft RT units have it since the skin is so thin . They now have a cargo deck on the front so all the crap you put on the deck takes the beating ;)

With the addition of the shocks it was extremely tame , I would say overall better control.

looks great. where did you get the shocks?

Clint

I purchased the shocks from shockwherehouse , but I would think you should be able to get them form your local parts guy.
