Poor reception

Given that my power antenna no longer works and I had to be within 30 miles of a 50000 watt station to receive anything without static, can anyone recommend an antenna that actually works. If so how does one access the radio to attatch the cable? 92 FJ80.

My power antenna quit too. A lot of 80 series have this problem.

A quick search of this forum will give you a number of threads on it.

Might even be in the FAQ thread at the top of the page.

I replaced mine with a universal shorty rubber one. It works really well off road and gets great reception. The old cable is a real pain to pull out so I left mine in.

The radio pulls out pretty easily. You can access the antenna that way.
