Police SUV front bumper pushbars

I think I'm selective when it comes to certain parts (not bad online skills as you thought-but thank you)and yes I have found a few which others have suggested and did not offer rude comments like you (no offense). Based on my thorough research (with capable online computer skills and I never doubted your's so I appreciate if you keep your comments to yourself), I'm opting for a bull bar. I thought the forum here has mostly intelligent members offering us good source of information and treat each other with respect, but there will always be a few that ruins it for everyone else. If I mis-understood your intentions, apologies.

landartcht,

I was not trying to come off as rude. I've certainly made some dumb remarks and statements throughout my MUD life. I just found it a bit interesting that you are still asking 2 years later with no progress. Yes, this is a forum with intellegant members and we will always be here to help and answer questions. You have been on IH8MUD for a few years now, I'm sure you know that most of us do not like the nudge bars, brushguards, etc. So this forum probably isn't to well rounded with which ones are availible, strongest, etc. We generally upgrade our trucks to look ridiculous at the malls and drive on gravel roads.

I've seen several brushguards for 100's on Craigslist, have you looked around in your area for a nudge/brush guard? The nudge bars on eBay look decent, and certainly cheap enough to give it a shot. I'm pretty sure you aren't going to be "nudging" people in traffic with it.

I'm looking for a sturdy bull bar instead because I learned
Police style bumper does not offer as much
Front end protection anyway.

Just FYI, but a bull bar does very little in terms of offering additional front end protection during a collision. Yes it will prevent dings from shopping carts and parallel parking, but it will do little to nothing in an actual front-end collision. See the pic below. I collided almost head-on with a MB S550 going about 10-15mph and you can see the results for yourself. The bull bar did next to nothing in reducing the damage to either vehicle IMO. If anything, it may have even caused a marginal amount of additional damage to my vehicle from being pushed back into the hood. Of course insurance covered all damage but I'm just saying. The second pic shows what I replaced the bull bar with: a TJM T3. I liked how the bull bar looked at the time (PO put it on) but I like the T3 now even more.

Get the bull bar because you like how it looks, but DO NOT get it if you're really looking for added protection. You will be sorely disappointed if that is the case. Good luck with your decision.

Nick, I appreciate your explanation. I'm sure sometimes in life
we have to put certain projects on hold, in my case I travel a lot during
the past two years and did not have the luxury of
focusing on certain things. It does not mean that I have bad online skills and jus can't
fine certain things. Now that I do have a bit of time, I'm back on it. We all have preferences and
I respect rah person's own choosing. As you can see, I'm not as involved
as much as some of you guys but do find information here helpful. So I guess I may not
be the "in" crowd but I think that doesn't mean I
can't check in on a question or request two years down the line.

Since you're on the subject. Of the main aftermarket bumpers out there (ARB, TJM, etc) who makes the lightest? I tree damaged our OEM plastic and wife is encouraging me to get a steelie bumper. I dread adding tons more weight to the cruiser but the OEM bumper is a joke

To armor up our 100 makes sense for off road, replace parts that are otherwise destroyed plus attach winch, jack etc...

The really cool looking bumper IMHO is sleek sweeping up at ends & sitting high with natural looking sweeping roll down into heavy under-armor, with tubular side rails color matching of course and a 2.5" lift....sweet.

:confused:How does this effect our safety: In a crash test where a stock SUV hits a 5 ft tall vertical wall at the corner on DS, armor may indeed spread impacted. But in real world head-on with a modern aerodynamic low front end, these modern cars become a wedge driving under the bump, tire then side rails of our armor. This would potentially roll the amour-ed-up 100, whereas the stock would be more likely to crumple wouldn't?:steer:

So one question maybe; how safe is our roll cage/pillars.:hhmm:

This is 100% relevant to everything you just said. The car that hit him got up under his sliders. He's alive though, if that answers your one question.

A police wench would not be my first choice. But after a 3 year search, the OP may disagree.

Just make sure the wench is good looking.
Tight housing & with good pull on my cable is all I need

If you like it rough, why not!

It was actually that post that first got me to thinking. He survived his one roll of the curb, but how would he had fared rolling two or three times or end over end. Did his side-bar contribute, well the frame is only inches from side rails so probable not.
