Had a cracked manifold on a 2004 LC. Put on DT headers and the rest was an EMS system (cats, mid pipes, exhaust). It sounds and runs great, more power, couldn't be happier. After about 30 days the check engine and VSC lights came on. I brought it to a local shop, they flashed it and cleared the code a couple of times but it comes back on after an hour or so. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a fix? Please help. Thanks.

What is the code? Also, don't worry too much about the VSC/Trac lights until you sort the check engine light. Many times the CEL light will trigger the VSC/Trac light. When the shop cleared the code, they should have told you what it was. If you don't have a code reader, go to AutoZone and let them check it, they'll tell you what the code is and would possibly have the parts available.

For sure get the code. Any inexpensive code reader will work for getting the number and clearing it. A full set of Toyota codes are in the forum FAQs. There are, of course, possibilities for the CEL other than the exhaust, but it might be good guess that it's related to the O2 sensor(s)?

Let me guess. P0430 and/or P0158 ? Mine throws them regularly since I got EMS midpipes. Looking to replace them ASAP.

Thanks for the advice. I will get the codes and go from there. I really hope I don't have to remove the cats to solve this. It's a great vehicle, I hope to keep it going for a long time. I will post the codes when I get them.

Isn't this because of the O2 sensor location?
Do a search and you will find something about it.

Aren't there topics relating to the O2 sensor is an incorrect location after exhaust change and then light coming on on the dash?
I might be wrong.

To the OP: did you go with the EMS 1 cat or 2 cat system?

I'm not sure. I have been trying to get in touch with EMS. They are not answering phones or e-mail. I have been working quite a bit and haven't had a chane to get the codes as previously suggested. It was working well for about a month.

You will get nowhere with EMS. They are worthless. And probably closed down.

I'm pretty sure we have the same set up. I also have the DT headers with the EMS mid pipes, cat and muffler. I will have the wire checked, that would be an easy fix. I have to get this resolved.

They put out a decent product but their customer service is terrible.
