Has anyone pulled the chrome trim off of their ‘18 LC?
I know what it’ll look like afterward just want to see if anyone else has done it yet.

If it was glued/taped on then it would be off my ‘16. Since removal leaves holes I don’t think anyone has, at least permanently. Some have taken it off to paint or vinyl wrap.
I saw the Heritage Edition does not have them. I wasn’t sure if they were on there with an adhesive or not

I hadn’t looked closely and thought Toyota had just painted them, but you are correct. Per the press release:

To complement its purpose-built overlanding focus, the running boards and chrome lower body side moldings of the standard Land Cruiser are deleted, while darkened headlight housings, fog lights with dark chrome surrounds and side mirrors with darkened chrome details underscore the vehicle’s sophisticated presence.

I've seen a number of folks just do a body-matched wrap on them to keep the trim bumper there, but delete the chrome.

Just did some digging in the parts diagrams.

For both 2013 and 2016 USDM cruisers there are two part numbers for the outer front door skin. One regular part number without a sub-description, and another stating "Side protective moulding - with"

2008-2011 has only one number.

Sounds like they already make a holeless skin and will be putting those on the Heritage Editions.

I'd be curious how the Silver one above with what appear to be california plates was concocted..

Photoshop? Bodywork? Not a hard bodywork job especially if it was getting painted already for some other reason like trail rash or something that would take out the side.

I haven't seen the other side but even if trail rash justified the work on one side, doing the other too? Yeah it's not difficult work but to tear up factory paint just to get rid of the bumper?

Photoshop possibly?

That's what I'm saying... I'd like the story.

Did anyone come up with a good answer as to if there are holes in the body for the door trim chrome for 2016+?
id love to take mine off, but sure not doing it if there are holes in the door.

There are holes. It’s been discussed on here in detail. Can wrap or fill holes.

See my build thread. I filled them.

Thanks for that- my forum search lead me to this thread. Going to check your build. I wanted a Heritage, but when my 2018 came up as a discounted leftover, I jumped on it.

Yep. That’s the way to do it!

I did find this yesterday...unless it's false advertising, appears some dealers are selling the HE D pillar emblem.

Nice profit margin. You can buy two for 60, remove couple pins and add tape or pay 320 ready to go. If you search the part PT413-60200-02 you can get it cheaper than Ebay for 267. Still way overpriced.

Using that part number you can find them from a lot of dealers. Wow MSRP is $349. Some dealers will sale in the $260's. Toyota is wanting to make you pay if you want to put these on your LC.

Having a tough time figuring out if I can easily remove the mouldings, and paint/wrap them, then re-install.

Has anyone removed and re-installed? Do you pry what appears to be some sort of covering off the bottom to get to the fasteners?

Really can't make heads or tails of the parts fiches...

Someone posted a short video.. possibly @Eric Sarjeant showing it easily coming off.. if I remember correctly.

At least for the 2016+. I pulled the trim on my 2013 and it was a total pain in the ass.

Edit: I'll see if I can find the video somehow.
