Hello all,

I am thinking about some bigger tires but I am a die hard pizza cutter fan. I have 33x10.5 tsl radials on my 95p/u and LOVE THEM. Nothing comes close to the quiet on road and amazing off road performance. They don't offer this tire in 35x10.5 but the ssr is available in that size. Anyone running simex tires? Pizza cutter guys help me out.

imho 33 10.5 is hardly pizza cutter. 9.5 or less would be and an 80 is too heavy of a beast to run true pizza cutters

The original Swamper TLS Bias comes in a 35.5 x 10.5 basically. Check part number SAM-53.

No personal experience with them or the Simex.

Any pics of an 80 with these tires? Seems perfect to me.

Pov pack standard 80 and 105s both came with 7.50x16 true pizza cutters in Oz.
76 and 79s still do, its the most common outback working tyre size

Cheers

My 33x10.5 tsl radials are actually 33x9.5 (cross section is larger). Narrow tires are better in most situations with extreme rock crawling being the exception. SSR radial is available 35x10.5r15 also, but $360 a tire is alot more than I paid for the 33's. Anyone running 36x12.5 tsl radial?

I have some 34.5 x 9.5 Super Swampers that I run on my BJ73 and my HDJ81... it is rare that I put them on the 80, but when I do they work great. Have to be careful when airing down though...

once you go skinny there is NO GOING BACK, There is a reason why tractors run tires like this!

I used to run 33 X 8.50 in my 60 when I lived in Colorado Springs. They had a very aggressive pattern and they were THE BEST in the snow. I remember behind my house there was a big hill and I would just sit at the window and watch Heeps and Cherokees try to go up the hill and start fish tailing and had to reverse down and go back where they came from and I would just go up in 2nd gear like nothing (off course hubs locked 4 X 4 HI)

These are gonna have to be resized, but...:whoops:

SSR 35x10.50x16's

They look perfect. That is what I want on my rig!!!!! Now to save the $1400 cdn for a set. Anyone see a set of simex extreme trekker?

Oooooo, that almost makes me want a set of 35's! How do those ride Coguy? I know they are an interco tire, but i only have experience with their bias ply stuff. Do you have the heavy OME in the rear?

I've seen some tall & skiny military tires for sale on craigslist from time to time.
I heard they are very firm though.

Those seem perfect. If I ever get a job.........

I have 34x10.50 Interco LTBs on my 80 mounted on FJC 16" offroad package wheels with 1.5" spidertrax spacers.

Military tires like the michelin XZLs are extremely stiff tires. Even at around 4psi or so the weight of an 80 series can just barely flex them.

Farr off road has some on his exocaged 80.

Could someone please explain the pizza cutter theory? They do look cool as hell but a wider tire provides a wider contact patch right? wider contact patch should equal better traction + added floatation. Look at those artic trucks they disperse there load out as much as possible to stay on top of stuff.

Sorry, I'm running 1.5" spacers as well. They're loud, but not too rough. I've run them between 35 and 45 psi without much difference as well. With the weight of the 80, they are GREAT in the rain, snow and ice. IMO, that's the big positive, but I switch them out in the summer months to avoid nasty mileage and wear...

I'd be suprised if you could find Simex tires in NA. The Centipedes are serious jungle-ass mudders. From the looks of the tread, I don't think anyone in there right mind would drive them on-road for long. I guess you're not concerned with on-road or winter performance though if you're looking at SSR's.

Personally, if I could get a set of any dedicated off-road tire, I'd choose the proven Simex 34x10.5 or 36x10.5. Just a pipedream though.
