Pintle hitch

Get the URB's. The OEM rear bumper does not offer the best point of recovery based on strength.

Its best to get into the habit of rigging a recovery in the best possible method regardless of how minor it may appear. If a load on the system changes in the middle of a recovery for some reason you don't want a failure, especially if you could have avoided it. Just my $.02

Here's my 'real life' contribution to the pintle hitch ...

I had one of these attached to my factory bumper. I thought it was a great idea for a recovery point, like many others in this thread.

One time (at band camp) I got myself high-centered on this large tire obstacle. Had a friend of mine attach to my hitch and pull me back.

All seemed fine and good. Then a few months later I pulled all the bumper stuff off and put on my new IPOR bumper.

I struggled a bit trying to figure out why the bolts weren't all aligning correctly... then I realized the source of the problem was the crossmember where the pintle hitch was.

Guess what, it's deflected. Enough to 'round out' where the bumper needs to sit... just enough to keep me from putting all the bolts in where I need to.

The recovery wasn't all that crazy. There might have even been another in a mud pit after that from the same location... point is, it's I don't think it's a good idea to to use it for a recovery point.

Good to know! Thanks
