Anyone know of a faster way to remove old pin stripes? My '87 60 has some (a lot) remaining and I'd like to get rid of it. I like the clean look better. I have just been using the edge of a credit card and gently scraping. This works, but is time consuming.

Thanks in advance.

I did a better search and found what I needed... thanks.

We were removing the pinstriping from our motorhome....picked up this circular bit for the drill....its a big spinning eraser (like on the end of a pencil) and you just rub off the striping

i used a heat gun to loosen the adhesive and peeled mine right off. follow that with some solvent to remove the left over stcky stuff, and then a polishing compund to make shiny again. or, just ride through some mud and nobody will notice!

Yep, get the pinstripe eraser, you can run it on a cordless drill. I think I paid $10 or something at the autobody shop. Carefull with it or you can burn the paint. Also get some 3M adheasive remover, heat gun and be prepared to wear the ends off your fingers...it took me the better part of a day to do my fj60, then you need to polish up the old paint......the paint under the pin stripes will be brighter than the old stuff. In the end it looks ALOT better but if you look you can still see the negitive of the old stripes.

also let the 3m stuff sit on the old PS for a while, takes a while to soften up.....

did I mention it was ALOT of freakin work.....

...........will never buy an old car with pinstripes again >:(

Had to bring this up again. Mine are pretty tiny, so maybe it will go faster for me.

Thanks, all.

I must have burnt through ten of those wheels on my old samurai.

A lot of work.
