I've tried searching a few different terms but all I found were threads of doors without the hardware asking for it, or unanswered requests about halfway through the thread.

I decided with the recent rain that perhaps I want to be able to put my windows up when I cruise around in my '63 DD with the slider window bug catcher doors but have no idea what the stock hardware looks like so that I can copy it or at least make something that looks decent and works like stock. I was hoping one of you kind souls that happens to have a complete slider window mechanism could post pictures or someone with a diagram could post it, I'd hate to have to put my '69 hardtop and doors on when I've wanted a corrugated top/slider doors for so long and finally have one with this 40. Thanks in advance

you're looking for shots of the vent window, or the track assembly?

If you tell me exactly what shots you want, I'll get some for you.

The track assembly for the main window itself, specifically how the factory kept the window up and any of the latches or associated hardware involved. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay rat. I've been busy with other stuff, and just got around to snapping shots today.

As far as I can tell you really only need two things:

The window crank plate has an arm that is attatched just below the crank, and the crank itself has a gear that turns the arm. It just swings an almost 130 degree or so arc, and a wheel on a track allows it to move along the bottom of the glass.
The glass looks like it just sits in the top of the wheel track. Pretty simple. The other hatch is just to get at the components (hold the glass up while you screw the plat ass. in).

Hope it helps.- Josh

There's a spring as well (you can see it below the crank). It does the holding.

Simple enough to work well for me (almost 50 years after they made it).

Wish my other cars worked this well in fact.

I do believe is looking for the earlier non-crank up windows. There os a long hole that went up and down. In the hole is a handle. You moved that handle up and down to raise and loweer the window. The unanswered question is what keeps the window from just falling to the bottom. I have a couple of sets of these. The latest set I picked up was torn down when I got them. The other set the driver's door was rusted at the bottom with no window install. I can't remember if the passenger's window was working. I remember it was all there. It's in the nineties for the lows here with in the hunderd ten plus during the day. The good door is buried in a garage detached from the house with no air. I will try and dig it out. I'm not promising but I will try.

It's waaaaay to hot to screw around with right now; check back later

:D

I wondered as much but I figured a 63 is a 63. His doors must be early 63 then.

Of course the door was the end one with about ten doors leaning against it. I dug it out only to find you can't see $hit from the outside. I looked in my 62 FSM and it doesn't help either. It only has a picture of the window mechanism from the wrong side. I'll have to dug out my 25 parts book to see if they have any better pictures of the mechanism. The other option is see if I can find the parts for the doors that are already torn apart. From the FSM diagram I did figure I was missing a spring. I figured I was when I operated the window handle that something was missing.

i would love some info/pics on this too. i have the doors but nothing inside them

All the pictures I have are of empty slots............ If I recall it was nothing but a friction clamp attached to the bottom of the glass and running on the face of the opening.

I have these same early doors and also have a few questions????

I did recently reattach the drivers glass to the mechanism so I have a basic understanding of how they work. But I can't seem to get either one to go up all the way and stay at the top. I could try to post some pics of two doors if it helps some how. Let me know.

i would really like a pic of the mechanism by its self. i need a set and if it is something i could make it would better. i cant find a set for sale...

I will try to get something up here for you. I also might have some parts floating around I wouldn't mind selling to a fellow cruiser dude!
