I'm currently cutting out the scribed areas of the dash to fit the gauge cluster in my new aqualu aluminum cowl and I'm wondering if anyone else has installed the 1983 centre dash control panel thingy. I'd also really appreciate a photo of an 83 with the dash out so I can mentally prepare myself for the massive hole i'm going to have to make.

Those tires sure look like Armstrong Tru Trac's. They made lots of noise ( squeal) when cornering hard on pavement.

Thanks jb

Yeah, the tires are Armstrong "miracle traction". They're new, but I'm planning to sell them and put pizza cutters on it. Neat tires though.

Thanks for the photo! Is there a raised section of the dash in that area?

yes, the top section is slightly raised over the bottom section which would house the radio and ash tray

Ahhh, ok, thanks. I might have to modify my centre piece to make it fit, but it seems like not too big a deal at this point!

the above picture might help a bit... as you can see, the lower half angles back into the dash, hence why the top half on the dash is raised a bit

There are standoffs in the center section that raise the center panel off the dash. Sorry but no good pics on the phone right now.
