newbie supreme, first post here, you guy's seem like a serious wealth of knowledge. I'm trying to piece together a big mess from previous owners.. not even sure if i have the right parts for the right year.. going out to buy a camera now to put some pictures up of what I'm dealing with, but in the mean time, i'd like to see if i have anything to go off of.

I've seen the SOR photos but they don't show the specific area I'm looking for. I've also seen some pictures on here but for years other than the 76, but yet again..

I'm mostly looking for pictures of where the linkage is supported by the bracket mounted on the base of the carb. Thanks!!

Hope this helps

You have to admit that this linkage design is a "hack job" on the part of the Toyota designers (I know.... It works just fine.....).

But to have a big U shaped diversion in the center of the rod to clear the e-brake cable is not the most elegant solution.

I wonder if the throttle linkage designer was praised, or fired after his first design review.

Rocky

OBTW: The linkage shown above is the same configuration that I had on my '74 F1.5.

thanks sawtooth for the pic, unfortunately it's not the same peices there.. unless i'm just getting the wrong angle.. does anyone know if there was a redesign around the 76 vintage? mines a nov 76..

A. Vancity, that's pretty much what it should look like. If you want to see something different, I think you should post a pic of what you have.

Rocky, that is some funny sheit! I owe you a  for that!

What's scarier is that some PO hack did that to the vertical hi-lo shift linkage on Zachery818's FJ40 to clear the V-8 exhaust manifold...and then attached the pivot to the frame!:eek:

The carb bracket is the same, but the torque rod bracket on the firewall changed in 10/76, according to SOR. Post pics of what you have.

so heres what i've got.

it seems like theres a bushing or something missing, i'm pointing with my finger where.. is there a bushing, cotter pin? can't seem to make sense of it.. is the elbow of that arm even supposed to sit there? i see on sor it as being part # 50 in the linkage parts but it says they are sold out and i cant really tell from that exploded view what that that part actually is.

only because it's kinda related i have a few more quickies..

any suspicions on why my rpms slowly creep up from idle with throttle cable disconnected.

also, does anyone know a good picture that shows which set screws do which? i just know this carbs been ***cke with..

There you go. Picture worth 1kwords!

Your bracket is from an FJ60, not an FJ40.

SO, the ? is, do you want to figure out how to continue the jury-rigging, or help going back to stock?

well, if there'd be an easy way to make it work till i track down the right part, then i suppose my ears are open. i just can't wait to drive this damn thing.
