Cool camper Douglas.

Now just drive around the world, pick up a few hot nurses and then write a book about it. Oh yeah and break a few trailer axles.

i think I already read that article in toyota trails. Possibly when the children are grown (the youngest is 3) and out of the house I may be able to retire and scale down to a proper "expedition" trailer and find the time to use it. Until then, very little coolness factor but the current model nonetheless suites our needs. It gets us further off paved roads than a minivan towing a stock popup would.

Dietmar..
Nice little trailer you have there,, and welcome to the forum! Could you post some more pictures of that coupler? that looks interesting,, does the neck of the trailer flex?

This thread is what got me started into looking for a off road trailer. Here is what I have to show. It is a adventure trailer made in Africa. It has metric hitch etc... I am currently looking to change it around to standard and get rid of the surge brakes for electric.

Here's what I ended up with... a bit more work to come, but maybe a trial run this weekend!!

and an upadated picture , for the most part, finished

Here's our setup, it's not much like what you guys have over there though.
It has electric brakes, 33"BFG mud to match the car, Q/S bed up top, full kitchen, 60lt water tank, shower etc. etc.

What kind of road shield is that? That is a great idea. My trailer gets to much road scum on it.

It's to protect the trailer from stone chips, and to prevent damage to the rear of the car ( paint chips and broken windows from stone rebounds ).
It's a 1" tube frame with pvc / pvc coated nylon mesh cover, laced on at the bottom edge with bungie cord through eyelets.

Did you make it or purchase it? Is it removable?

My CDN M101/w Eezi Awn 1400 series 3 RTT almost camp ready, just bought Eccotemp L5 hot water shower heater for it tonight. Hubs and wheels changed out to fit split rims to match the cruiser, RTT Rack is lifted vertically with 2-100lb gas springs when in camp position and locked in that position with lock pins on all 4 corners and then lowered approx 10" and pin locked again when in transport. 2-17"x48" lids on each end that fold on to one another and can open in transport position if need be. Rear stabilizing leg from U.S 3/4 ton M101, very stout and has reciever hitch welded to it to carry bike rack.

thanks man.. fuel/water im still thinking about.. ive got some ideas for a portable/tankless water heater for showering and maybe some in floor heating under the matress .. for now i have a porta privy set up for showering but i use a weed sprayer just boil some water on the fire pump it up and you have a good 5 mins or so of shower time.. the tent it self sets up fairly quickly for its size .. i can have the whole camp set up in just under 10 mins in the dark.. the matress is a queen size up top.. if need be i can sleep 4 on the floor . but we just usually put a small table and chairs in there and the kids get there own tent when they tag along.. the only thing im not real happy about and its no big deal but the front wall completely unzips when the weather is nice when it is closed the window could be larger .. i am having a buddy make me a new front wall that will be almost entirely mosquito netting .. a must have where i camp from may to june is black fly season then the mosquitoes take over till the end of july/august..
not the best pic but here you can see the front wall and window closed up

and here is the front wall unzipped , so i am having a moquito net panel made that will zip into place here allowing in plenty of light and still be able to hide away from the bugs when they get real bad
