For a pintle hook yes - not for a 3500lb trailer. %$#@^

may want to read a bit about this issue in previous threads?

you sure about that? didn't think it fit the stock bumper. Is this with cutting?

Yepper. No trimming, nothing. On the 80 though since it's angled it sticks down quite a ways.

Yepper on a 100 too, though without the hitch. Since it's flat on the 100 there's much more clearance. Nothin' like a special bumper though. J

Shotts,

Do you have a picture of a 35" tyre mounted in the stock location of an 80?

Nice but I don't like the latches. Ideally the latch should pull swing out into the bumper. It's almost impossible to make the carrier not wiggle in that configuration.

A Slee is $1,795.00 for an 80 and $1,995.00 for a 100

(a fair price for what they are, I might add)

i don't quite see the *fair* price part.
i work in a fab shop and i don't see 2000 bucks in them.

hehehe - I've read every thread about pintle hooks - I'd never, never pull my trailer on that alone.

???
pintle hooks can go much higher than the little ball stuff
so it's entirely a function of how sturdy the bar you attach to is
question is then how strong the bumper here is and could easily be stronger than the typical drawtite kinda frame mounted receiver
how can you dismiss this without knowing how strong the bumper is? or do you?

Fair enough.

Build your own then.

not a problem, have made a few, the only problem would be finding the 80 to put it on. :)

Probably the difference between working in a fab shop and owning one. You don't have any exposure to development, utilities, rent, insurance, advertising, benefits, taxes, payroll, inventory costs, etc.

But you're right, they're probably easy enough to make after all that -

A 315x75-16 will fit underneath (though you lose clearance).

Rob's Nitto 315 spare fit, but the panhard rubbed it, so it went in the back.

It's 2 plates with a sleeve. I did not crawl under the one I saw to see what the back-side looks like.

1 of the 2 plates goes 7 inches into the bumper and ties the sides and rear portion of the bumper together

The 2 plate design was only used for the 1st run of bumpers, a custom add on.

The current production bumper uses a single 1/2 inch plate that also continues into the bumper and holds a 3/4 inch D ring. Both the early 2 plate and current single plate design make bullet a proof connection from the frame of the 80 to the D ring recovery point.

Actually, the tire swing-out on the HQ bumper is as solid as possible, there is very little movement or flex in the spare tire swing-out. The latch locks the swing-out tight to the bumper and the 3500# rated spindle pivot makes for a really solid combination, even with a 37 inch spare and steel rim.

If you think you can do it, why not?

What do you think you could sell them for?
