i don't belive that either side is really safer, as they each have their disadvantage. the pivot on the USDS would swing into traffic while the USPS mount would put the spare in a position to enlarge the driver's blind spots.
pick your poison. i'd go with USDS, as i don't park streetside very often and don't enjoy impaired visibility.

I'm extremely satisfied with having the spare tire in the MIDDLE on my Slee Bumper. IF a re-design of a bumper was going to happen I'd suggest that change.
On an 80 and 100 the blind spots are to those far rear sides and a side-mounted spare makes for one HUGE blind spot on that side. On Slee's 100 bumper those "corner views" aren't obstructed. The only thing that the center tire blocks (I have a 35 and Hi-Lift) is a extreme tailgater, though you can still see their roof, so all is OK.

I have the tire on the Drivers side and I can say that while cruising down the highway in the left lane I like the extra view of the open lanes on the right. Also when loading and unloading at the curb, with the tire on the DS I don't have to move around it to put something on the tail gate if there is another vehicle parked behind me.
I personally love the dual setup as I've wanted a cooler carrier for mine since I got it. It's just not an option.

SWEET.....Did you get any thing else put on the opposite side of the tire or get something different then the regular setup?
No, I really did not think about anything else, but maybe down the road if it is possible, Ken told me that he would have it no later than Monday-Tuesday next week, I think He told me that it is his last one before he gets started on the cruiser for cruise moab. Ordered mine right on time!
