Took a little over an hour from start to finish in my shop, so it wasn't nearly as hard as some make it out to be  (then again, I do have a lift and access to the proper tools)

I did run into a couple of kinks though

Kink #1

Snapped one of the 3 bolts on the end cover for the starter :frown:

Looks to be an original unit with plenty of rust, but I'm pretty sure the other 2 bolts will hold it just fine...

Kink #2

After installing the new Samco silicone hose, I tried to put the mounting bracket bolt back in place and dropped it :whoops:

Couldn't find it anywhere, so now the pipe is only being held by the top mount (which I think should hold up fine)...

What really irks me is that the contacts still had more than 1/2 life left on them and the original PHH looked like it would go another 100k miles without issue

The coolant also looked as fresh as the new stuff I was pouring in

I almost feel robbed lol

You'll be glad it is all done!! I am doing a block heater this weekend!!

It's that time of year ;) What side of the block are you putting it in? I could see the plugs on the intake side, but couldn't figure out how to get in there without tearing out half the engine. Exhaust side was pretty simple though!

Snake eater: don't feel robbed man, you just bought yourself some peace of mind. And you might have even upped your  level a bit! :flipoff2:

The instructions on the block heater specify the exact freeze plug to remove. When I installed mine, I recall it being on the exhaust manifold side of the block towards the firewall. But always go with the instructions included with the heater.

How many miles did you have on your rig prior to doing the jobs?

She turned 111,111 this morning

Mine didn't have specific instructions as to where to put it, so I put it in the freeze plug between the two exhaust manifolds. Sounds like the same spot!
