First - A HUGE THANKS TO SLOMO, who directed me and had small enough hands to loosen the top nut to the down tube connecting the PHH. He was great, and I can't thank him enough for his time and effort!!!

Without his very patient guidance and help, this wouldn't have happened. Old PHH was in very good shape for 12 years and 165,000 miles.

We drained the old coolant, changed the PHH in a few hours, then did a very thorough flush, then refilled with Yota red and distilled water.

Pic of the new blue PHH!

Slice open the old hose from end to end, open up flat, and examine the inner surface for cracking. They fail from the inside out.

Inside was as clean and good looking as the outside, but it's done for another 12 years and 165,000 miles hopefully! :D

Now if we could just get your engine bay cleaned out. :flipoff2:

or like me, it's done until the HG blows :o

WAIT! Don't leave the board! I am working on the exact thing today and the same problem, the clamp is facing the firewall. I'm not as experienced as you guys, and I don't know what all the acronyms you are using in this post or the original mean. I don't have a dremel, I've tried hooking it with stuff, I have a pair of bent needle nose pliers, no luck, and I have cut the hose away as much as it is going to go. What is the C-Dan method?? I have started tearing down the intake plenum and I'm stuck on that. Now I have a dead yota in the driveway up on ramps and railroad ties, and I'm screwed from the top AND from the bottom! Any help?

A $30 Dremel will make short work of the problem you are having. Available at Wal*mart, Home depot, Lowes, Ace, and lot of others.

The good thing about any lousy project is the tools you get out of it I guess. S8sigh*. What a lousy day.

Thanks for the encouragement. #$%^&*!

Hopefully your hands are small enough to loosen the top nut to the down tube. Mine weren't - thank god Slomo's were.

A 10mm wratcheting wrench is another nice to have on that nut.

Brent,

Now doesn't feel good that you don't have to worry about it anymore. If I were in town I would have been more than happy to lend a long skinny arm. Now you can focus on golf again;)

Those are awesome! I bet one would work great. After I posted on Saturday I tried using a brake spring tool (http://igate.thetoolhouse.com/eserv....ID=JT&AUTOLOG=YES&CLEV=5&TRACKNO=0&PN=10129), it has a hook on one end and comes together like pliers, and it almost worked. If the top jaw awas flat instead of pointed I could have had it. I'll probably swing by Harbor freight, pick up the hook set and a cheap dremel and flex shaft, along with some diamond cutting wheels and git 'er done...one way or another.

Hehehe! :D Stress at work is killing my game right now. Haven't had time to work out at lunch for a couple of weeks and it's already showing up in my game.

Eduardo you are bound and determined to put that off until it blows aren't you. Maybe we need to plan on getting together and knock that out that way if someone else is involved you can't flake. :D

Yeah, I might just have to take you up on that soon!! I don't want to end up doing it on the side of the road!! :frown: Cold Corona's and some Carne Asada,
might be in order also!

*Hijack in full effect* Sorry Brent.
I am in! Doesn't get much better than  and carne asada. I have lots of air tools and a grill if you wan't to come here. What do you say? Shoot me a PM and we can set it up.
