The stock lights are anemic, the LEDs are awesome. WAY brighter.
Mine definitely arent. Maybe the lx470 with rear dvd players have upgraded lights to start with? I dunno. Either way, I was unimpressed. The lights I bought as individual part numbers on ebay for my 80 are miles brighter.

Plus the color is weird on the pfran kit. It looks like it has a CRI of like... 2

80 vs. 100 difference? My LED's are much brighter than the OEM incandescents. Color is bluish-white, and some may like the soft yellowish light of the OEM. The other neat thing is leaving your door open will not run down your car's battery as quickly.
Good luck,
Dave

Did this upgrade over the weekend, because the stock ~4k halogen bulbs were driving me crazy. This is one of those upgrades that I'm kicking myself for not doing right away, because it took 20 minutes and has made a huge positive difference! As in, I can actually see inside the rig when its dark. I'm not sure these pics do justice because LED is hard to capture in pictures I think. My only 'disappointment' is that the rear cargo dome light LED replacement is a slightly different/warmer color than all the other bulbs. But it adds so much more light that I'm still a happy customer.

That's interesting. My rear cargo light is the same as all the others. It is a super quick, simple mod with a high return. You might try your luck reaching out to PFRAN and see if you can get a replacement

Thanks @TorchRedTulsan - packed 2 additional extras I'm realizing, so maybe one of those are the correct color. My kit came with a handful of extras, and the smaller bulbs seem to be a variety of colors. Maybe PFrans' quality control guy was on the struggle bus that day or something....

No this happened to me also. I purchased a kit from him for my 4runner a few years ago and it was great. I purchased one for my LX and the bulbs were 3 different colors, very purplish, blue and pure white. He emailed me and said there was a mix up with his distributor and that he would send me out new bulbs. I am still waiting on those.

Another question here - a few months down the road, and all my door light covers are either a) ajar/loose or b) completely fallen off. I checked the plastic tabs on the back of the light covers, nothing broken. I even ordered 1 new one to see if it would be a better outcome, it falls out as well. It appears these are a pressure/tension fit. Anybody know how to get them to sit in there tight? Do you have to take the door off, thats about the only thing I have not done yet.

I had the pfran led kit. Hard pass. Light is too blue. Build a kit from super bright leds. Much better selection and whiter light output.

Also, i regret getting bright map lights, it's a pain in the butt if your passengers turn them on. They'll blind you, guaranteed.

Same problem for me. I thought I was the only one. Curious to hear if anyone has a solution

Mine did that as well. Even new replacement diffusers. A small dab of clear silicone on the tabs fixed that issue for me. Before...the diffusers in the doors would fall out whenever the door was closed.

Plan on piecing out a kit. Anyone of you have the list of bulbs for the 100?

No issue with light covers at all. Are you sure no tabs got broken? Sometimes it is hard to tell. Perhaps the metal spring clip fell off?

hmmm...I never saw a metal clip, so I'm not sure my rig had/has those? Or they fell off when I pulled them out and I didn't notice, if that would be possible? I'm 100% sure the plastic tabs are intact.

Likely they fell off.

Finally got around to figuring this out. One of my 4 doors had no post - conversion problems with the diffusers. The other 3 kept falling out. So I popped the window control button panel (for lack of better lingo) out of the other passenger door. With this out, it allowed me to get behind the door light mount. So holding from the back, and working into place from the front, I was able to get a 'click' and the diffuser is now there to stay. Seems like they are a pressure fit piece, and I couldn't get the correct angle without holding the mount from both sides. My kids have been slamming the doors all day, no loose diffusers. I'm marking it in the 'win' column for the weekend. Also - still see no sign of a previous metal tab, or a place to install one if I had one to install. So that will remain an unsolved mystery...

Just received this kit. Got the cover off the map light but can't figure out how to get the little bulb out? I have big hands, is that my problem (it'll be a first if it is ;))

I like the idea of low draw from LEDs since sometimes my kids will not close the door all the way and I come out the next day to a dead battery. But I also like that my oem bulbs aren’t glaring bright. I pretty much always leave my dome lights in the off position. For me the ideal light would look like one candle burning, I want a color as warm as possible but not tinted. Tall ask I know for LEDs, but does anyone have any suggestions? Does Pfran have anything that will do this? 2006LX

Also, imho the factory amber map lights are absolutely perfect, I don’t even notice them until I need them and then they’re exactly bright enough. Why is everyone replacing with red? Are factory ambers just an LX thing? Anyone know if these are LEDs? I’d consider more of these bulbs to replace factory door lights etc if possible.
