I have been researching the best location on the GX460 to pass the antenna wire from the outside of the truck to the inside of the truck, so far I haven't found an ideal spot.

I have done some searching around on the forum, but not very many discussion on the antenna; and the ones I have found just have people running it through the back door opening and closing the door on the wire.

How are other radio operators passing the antenna wire from the outside to the inside?

Thanks!

First off, where are you planning on mounting the antenna? Roof/roof rack, Rear swing-out bumper, front bumper, magnetic?
My rear bumper is a MetalTech swing-out and had an antenna mount already on it, just behind the spare. I ran the wire along the spare tire mount and did a loop around the swing-out hinge to give it room to flex when opening and closing the swing-out.
I then mad a small cut-out in the right rear quarter plastic panel that's under just under the right rear tail light. after passing it through there, I ran into the rear under the carpet and from there just tucked it behind all the plastic molding until I got to the front seat area. There I mounted the body of the HAM under my seat and the face plate on my center console.
Take a look at my build thread starting at post #44: Builds - R²M 2013 GX 460 Overland Build - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/r-m-2013-gx-460-overland-build.1104719/page-3
Although in the pictures of the wires going from the swing-out under the plastic panel under the tail light, I've since made a small notch for the wires to run through so they wouldn't go under that panel. The last picture in post #48 will show you what I mean.

I have my 2m antenna on a fender mount with the coax run through the main harness grommet into the cab, under the dash and center console to the receiver under the passenger seat. I mounted the remote head unit (Radio is an ICOM IC-2730A) on a RAM mount arm in the storage cubby below the radio, which makes it easy to remove (just leaves the ball in the bottom of the storage area)

I haven't scoped it out too much, but plan A is going to be buy and install one of the roof racks that have the T slot cross bars in them and rig up an antenna mount that can lay down when not in use and can be pivoted up when needed.

So if I can rig up the antenna mounts that I want, the antenna would be on the roof.

Might have to check to see what passthrough holes is under the shark fin at the rear of the roof...

If you go with a roof rack, I'd suggest mounting in the right rear, then it would only be a short run to inside your rear door and then you can run it inside all the paneling.
Just a thought...

I use a CD slot phone/tablet mount for the radio, and a Kaon hood hinge antenna mount. Coax is run through the passenger side main wiring harness grommet. I'm happy with it. You'll want to get coax with a removable connector to make it feasible to run through the grommet.

How do you like the CD mount? Been considering them, how does it handle offroad?

It works well for the radio faceplate, which is pretty light. For a phone, it is pretty stable but down low, and if you like your phone to be vertical it will interfere with the shifter. For the most part it doesn't block access to any of the controls, but can block view of the clock.

I like the clean look of the cd slot mount for the mobile radio faceplate. Are you still pleased with its performance? Do you remember the name brand or perhaps have a link to that one? Thanks.

Brand name is Woleyi. I've had it a few years so not sure if they are around any more or not. It still works well for the radio faceplate.

Found it - I couldn't find it in my orders, but when I searched the jungle for Woleyi it said I bought this one in 2021.
