Hey everyone,

I am isolating myself for the next couple weeks and want to take some time to check everything I can over on my 97 FZJ80. Of course, this includes not running to the parts store or any other store for that matter. I started off with cleaning my throttle body and clearing a P0401 (luckily it was just a clogged port.) I hope to buy a few parts online but haven’t decided what needs to be done.

What types of things are you planning on taking care of on your 80 during the next week or two of “social distancing?

Driveline fluids, knuckle rebuilds ( leaking badly), oil pan reseal ( leaking) oil pump o ring (leaking), manifold gaskets ( leaking), front crank seal ( leaking) snorkel installation, abs delete, compressor install and hook up air lockers... it never ends.

That’s a lot of leaking! I think I’ll follow suit on the driveline fluids, mine clunks a little.

I started a front birf rebuild and complete brake component refresh just before the ‘lock down’ in CA so I decided to continue to the rear and do a full bearing repack, complete brake component refresh and other mics maintenance. Planning for a hydro boost conversion next week, if parts arrive tomorrow, so I thought I better get the brakes and all ancillary equip back to OEM spec.

My list of things ‘to do’ is never quite done on my Cruiser so this is perfect time to dive in and knock a few things off the list....

Hmmmm, I hadn’t thought of that but probably a good time to do it.

Thank You !!

Nice!

I‘m still baselining, so up next will be my oil pump cover seal and Dizzy o-ring replacement. Hopefully that will be it for oil leaks. I’m going Gonna the radiator to do the oil pump cover seal and give myself more room since I‘m gonna replace hoses and belts as well. Need to do the PHH too.

Just replaced my spindle bushings today and put fresh moly grease in my birfs. Did an oil change and greased the drive shafts too.
Planning on detailing my interior this week; gonna break out the shop vac and some carpet shampoo.

Well I just picked up the truck right on the cusp of this thing starting... not really sure where to start. This business of baselining needs to be investigated further, my idea was fluids and hoses,.,. Very shady tree mechanic guy here but eager to get greasy!
So far
replaced an broken driver door handle
did an oil change
Cheap amazon hood struts installed
Cheap amazon outter upper rear hatch handle is too aftermarket and needs too much modifying for me...looking for that stock 2 peice handle
I did a engine bay spray down with some zep purple spray looking to find the source of the massive amounts of oily deposits everywhere underneath....
Oh and im looking up threads right now for my noisy power steering issues... ready to go with some valvoline synthetic atf dexron vi... so happy to be driving the dream
Stay safe out there!
