God I hope not! That image, unfortunately, is seared into my mind

Me too. :crybaby:

So I guess I need to know where everyone plans on meeting in Panamint Valley and when. It sounds like we're all leaving at different times from different places and have side trips planned as well.
Is the final destination Ballarat? Is this where camp is going to be?
I know, I worry too much about logistics. :D

I'm sure glad my wife doesn't read these forums. :D

Sounds like I might have to drag my trailer as far as I can, then set up camp, crack a beer:beer::beer: or two, and then think of what to do for a couple of days.

You guys aren't thinking of bailing out are you? Dan, are you planning Saline Valley?

N Saline Pass is closed
S Saline Pass is closed
Ubhebe crater road is closed so no access via Lippencott.
Scottys castle road is closed so no access Via Death Valley Road that way
The only other way into Saline Valley is from Big Pine via Eureka Valley.

Recalling the powder holes we went through the road from Eureka Dune to Steel Pass should be fun with a few inches of rainfall on the roads.

Jeff,
Without a better idea of what getting to/from Saline would be like I am going to have to forego that portion of the trip...at least on the front side. And if we can't get out via the South Saline Pass route it might make for a long day on Thursday getting from Saline to Panamint.

No plans to cancel going to Panamint at this time however!

How about a side trip? It may sound a little macabe, but we could go south and up Coyote Canyon to the infamous Barker Ranch and explore a little. I'll have to research a little more to find out about time needed. But it looks like a fun drive.

GREAT! It's loaded into the Garmin and I guess I'll see you there.
Wednesday evening for you Jack? I'll have the beer and wine chilled.

Thursday evening for us. We leave early Thursday morning and depending on our progress/weather it will depend on our arrival time.

FYI: Pulled from an Expedition Portal thread of same:

http://www.dvnha.org/morning_report/Morning.pdf

The last time I remember it flooding to the point they closed Bad Water/178 things were pretty bad and a lot of roads were closed for almost a year after.

You guys are bringing me down.:flipoff2:

Let's hope the weather improves or we may have a pretty limited exploration trip.

You're bringing your camper, I'm bringing my trailer, I have an awning, I'll bring a tarp. It's an expedition and we'll build shelter from the elements.
We''l have a place to sit out of the rain, cooking area that's dry, a heater, micro-brew, good food, Land Cruisers, winches, extra boots, all in the middle of the desert.
We're set. :skull: Let'm stay away. :skull:

Looks like a good one, hopefully you will have all of the details and we can make it work.

Yeah, I am not worried about the camping portion, we will all be set on that regard, it's the driving up any road that heads into the mountains. The camp site is around 1200', we hit 5000' going up one of the canyons and didn't hit the top. So there could be some weather preventing too much exploration in the higher country.

Hmm, A/T or M/T tires......

Are you still going to attempt getting to Saline with the current road report?

I'm hoping that by Monday rolls around, things should change for the better, no?

So depending on the road, rain, mud, etc... I experimented with Jacks computer skills and found this Map of driving directions and the estimate of only 51 minutes. So allowing time to eat, stop and play, dig ourselves out of the mud, eh, 1.5 - 2 hours each way?
All of this hinges on the fact of the weather and the roads.
