The Ali's will be joining you folks and we're hoping to be in the Saline Hot springs a day or two earlier. I just can't get enough of that washboard road :D We're looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting some new folks there.

Kewl! I was thinking of hitting the springs on the way out...but it all depends on work...or the the lack of ;).

Sure, rub it in. We would love to be there too, but we are limited on time. So we have to stick with Panamint only, no Saline for us.

I'm probably going to go over 108 again and meet you in Bridgeport or Walker.
What time are you heading out of Reno?

Wrong!
108 is closed for the winter, so I'll have to come up 88 or 50 and then meet you guys in Gardnerville.

That's probably better anyway Jeff. This way you and your wife (even if she isn't riding along she will see this as a benefit :-) get the benefit of being chaperoned by the group a higher percentage of the total trip miles :flipoff2:.

Man...you set yourself up good for that one

She's not coming along, and I have to prove to her that I can go outside and play again.

Without getting in trouble...

Sorry Jeff, I didn't get back to you sooner, I was very busy yesterday and most of today.

We are going to be meeting the parents in Gardnerville in Thursday morning, still figuring out the time, sometime around 7:00 -8:00 am. They will driving their motorhome, so we have to get everything fleshed out before we pull out.

So that means we will be leaving Reno pretty early. Now having said that, if you wanted to drive up the night before (Wednesday), I live on an acre and you can park the trailer anywhere, I can even hook you up electrically. That way you can take your time driving up on Wednesday instead of having to leave at O dark thirty on Thursday morning. Let me know.

I am not sure what time everyone else wants to leave. I figure we will catch up with everyone on the way down. Hope that helps.

Jack

Current plan is to leave Wednesday and drive up 50, and head down to Walker. I still owe Dan and Karla (the owners of the Walker General Store) a pie for all their help back in August. Then I'll camp along the river there between Walker and the 108 Junction.
Might even drive up to the crash site and look for rim pieces.

:princess: went back to the state feed trough. No time off for her in the near future.

Wow, she sure has a funny idea of retirement.:D

Ok for anyone else who is planning on going, we are going to be leaving Reno around 6am to meet the in-laws in Minden around 7am. The reason being is that the Father-in-law just got done rebuilding the motor in the motorhome, so he will be driving very slow and easy on the way down for break in purposes. He will only be traveling at 60 mph, so that should make for a long day down. :steer:

The reason I posted that is, I am sure that anyone else that is heading down, will not want to leave town that early or be stuck behind a lumbering motorhome.

I'm sure everyone will catch up to us, if not we will see you down there.

Can't wait, it's getting closer...

Jack

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already but what 2M freq do you guys use? I assume 146.460 for simplex but is there a 2M repeater freq that covers that area?

thanks.

I think Silver peak? Andy P would know.

If I was trying to make at least part of this trip , would it be best to do the first half or the last?

Thanks,
ken

Well, if you are interested in hiking up the famed Surprise Canyon, then the first part. If you are more interested in driving only, then the last half. Clear as mud?

Looks like there is going to be a great group of people on this one.

Ken,
If you decide to go early why don't you meet us at Saline on Wednesday for a little soak? Also thinking of stopping back there on the way back for a Monday night/Tuesday A.M. soak possibly.
