this is what sucks about all the closures with travel management--it will have no effect to those people, only us rule-abiding users.

I don't put out the 'support local trails' lightly, as I am agast at how much OHV Sandia Ranger District plans to open in my back yard (Oak Flat and David Canyon). In the 10 years I've lived and worked in the East Mountains I've seen how much badness can happen when there is no enforcement of the long-standing rules.

Places I used to PT are now covered in garbage and carcasses: so much for K9 SAR training. Places I've walkd the dogs now have drive-arounds blazed to bypass gated roads.

These are what I feel we can best spend our energies on: demonstrating to the landowners and lawbreakers alike, that we want to do right.

Doesn't have to be at Sandia: just sayn we should be thoughtful about what we support.

Dave,

Do you know what is needed to run a snowmobile in NM? In CO they require a pseudo registration sticker. I've seen CO Forest Service guys enforcing the sticker.

Sorry, a little off topic. Trying to plan ahead for next years snow run, I may bring the Mochine.

In California it's called a Green Sticker.

I don't think you need anything here in NM, but if you venture into CO, make sure you have a sticker. That's my understanding from my friend who sleds a lot on the Carson NF. I wouldn't be surprised if that changes, though, since NM is hurting for revenue.

Does a snowmobile not fall under the regulations of the NM OHV sticker law?

Thanks to the wording from Marc, I was able to find it. Snowmobiles count as OHV and most information can be found on the NMGF website. Need to go to the DMV to get the registration done. Looks like about $50 for a NM resident, I'm not sure I'll spend that just to ride one day on the Snow Run.
