Pakistan Soft Top Bow?

Received my Paki soft top bows Today !
Let me say first aside from the shipping/damage issues I was surprised by the quality in the workmanship very nice Eshan !
assembling the rear bow I have a question the up right at are about 5/8" too high do I cut 5/8" off the bottom? tailgate do not line up with bolt holes is there a bracket that needs to be made or is this the wrong bow piece?

Pictures are helpful what dose stock look like? What are your thoughts or what have other,s done.

I'm not sure if this helps you at all, but it's the only picture I have that's sized and on topic. This is OEM in my factory soft top 1977 BJ40.
The bow installation in the rear corners had a change during production but I'm not completely sure what the change entailed except to say that I think they altered the bracket attaching the bow to the side rail of the trucks.

I haven't heard of a change that would result in that shortfall. Maybe extra material was left in the vertical post to allow for rusting away?

Inge is right in that. Compare the line drawing from SOR and the picture of mine to see that those inner tubes aren't shared by both. My truck has/had the soft ambulance doors. However, I was able to put a top on the truck that has a rear flap - a rear rollup window on without removing those pieces without any problem. In fact, having those vertical inner pieces installed adds support across the back that makes the whole panel tighter. To use them you probably need to trim the outer tubes that go all the way to the top of the fenderwell until that foot comes down to the rail.

Before you go trimming the bows, I'd check to see if the front and rear bows are at the same height and it's level. I'd also check the fit of the piece over the doors. If those are all right and you decide you want to install the pieces across the back, I'd cut the tube and weld in an extension. No reason to make your whole top out of level. If the back is sitting higher than the front, then you can cut the rear bows a bit.

On mine at least I'm not sure that the hieght of three bows align with each other. It's only necessary that the long horizontal from the back of the door frame be parallel to the top edge of the tub.

The one problem we had in installing Mile's Starkey's Eshan top to the BJ40 was in getting the rear of the top to line along the bottom edge at the rear. Since all adjustment is made using the straps at the back a shorter rear bow would have helped a lot. As it was I had to run my shop heater with the vanes directed at the top to heat it enough to allow stretching into position at the back. It's tight enough now to bounce a quarter like in an inspection in basic training!

i am running the tubes now, even though they aren't necessary, i just bolted everything loosely and as i tightened everything, they pulled down.

I wonder why its not fitting onto your truck.. Can you post a pic from the rear corner like the one of the yellow cruiser so I can see the whole setup. Also. Is your rear corner pipe touching the floor?
The alignment is no problem. That can be easily fixed by using a hammer and a piece of wood. But I have to see the picture first. I will discuss it with my experts here if need be.
About the tight fit of the top. the fit is easier to get if you install on a sunny warm day. The Vinyle expands a bit. We made it this way so it wont go loose in summers or hot places. Better tight then loose.

No I will not cut the rear bows at this point

Yes I will consider not using the door frame If it turns out to be too much trouble

Ehsan the vertical alignment is perfect the same at the top of the door frame as my tail gate,I did have more time to bolt up all the bows and the rear bows settled down now I have less than 1/2" gap and yes the pipe is touching the rear corner

I am still at the edge of the tub to move it in to line up with the bolt would make it crocked

Please post a picture from the rear corner of the vehicle that will include the rear half of the LC.

I will try to get pics for you today and see if I can locate the problem. The OEM bows are very easy to fit. If there is a slight misfit, it can easily be modified to fit.

Had a detailed discussion with the mechanic. We finally came to this conclusion. The rearmost bow is usually cut short a bit at the base during the manufacturing. Yours probably was not cut and hence it is 5/8" longer/higher. To confirm this, you should check the side bows. They should normally be level. If our guess is correct then yours will be higher by 5/8" at the back corner. Please check this and let me knwo. IF this is not the case, an easy solution is to use a pin grinder or a drill to elongate the hole at the rear bow downwaras by about 5/8"s. This would push the pipe to the base.

Quick question. I am having a slight fitting issue with my top at the rear where it meets the tailgate. I have about 1/2" gap and can't get my right rear zipper to come down due to the snugness.

Looking at the top again are the rear smaller uprights that connect to the tub holes supposed to bow in towards the cab or out towards the top and rear. They have a small kink in them that kicks them both in one direction. I currently have them installed bowing out towards the rear and the one zipper can't make it past that kink point. I am going to try to reverse them this afternoon to see if it solves my problem.....and yes I have already adjusted the little sliders on the bows as much as possible.

Make sure you measure the distance from the center of the rear bow down to the bed. It should be 1200mm or 47.24". If it is not, cut it down so it is. That should solve a lot of fitment issues.

That diagram seems to show that it's 1200mm to the top of the bow, not to the center. Measure twice, cut once.

Just measured, looks like I am right on with the height. What was the decision about the rear smaller uprights, they kink out or in? It looks like this might be my problem as the out kick towards the rear is stretching the top up and out a little too much. See my additional side ripples in this photo..would stretching the top too far backwards create these?

BTW the top is sitting all the way flush to the body at the door. See pic.
