Had a parking gate swing down on the driver side top rear c pillar. Is it possible to access the backside of this area sans drilling a hole?

Annoyed. Seriously. Many thanks.

The D-pillar is double walled right there, but you still may be able to access it. The problem is, with a crease like that, you’re not going to be able to get it flat enough to be visually acceptable (I don’t think). I’m not an expert, but I don’t really think it’s a painless repair candidate. It’s also going to require some real body work and paint. That area is especially difficult because there is no clear stop line, they’ll need to blend the paint.

Great pic. Thank you.

I'm hoping the PDR guy can access through that hole where the wire is coming out.

Bone up on dry ice PDR vid’s on Youtube/Vimeo - try getting at it if you have more time than $$$.

Alternately - If you have a hammer with a large rubber grip, shove it up the rear access & tap the other end with another hammer.

Paid PDR guys don’t bother to access the rear from what I saw - it was all heat guns & dry ice & windshield suction cup tools.

Just stuff a flattened football in there and then inflate it slowly so you can watch the dent from the outside. It MAY push a lot of that out.

They will use glue and a slide hammer for PDR on that spot. Would have to have a better look to see if its possible.

I guess the question is if you can access that corner from the inside. I called a couple of PDR guys. Trusted body shop says it's a lot of work if I'm not lucky going the PDR route. :( Royally sucks.

Why did it happen?

Take that thing out and treat it how god himself intended the '80 to be used. After a few dents and bruises, rrr, badges of honor, unlikely to even notice that little nick! :hillbilly:

That will be a piece of cake, but don't delay, the sooner the better, metal has memory.

Damn ih8 peanut gallery. :D

LC Zeus intended for me to get bumps and cruisers out in the wild not by some malfunction pos parking gate arm.

Hear ya.

I have 2 scars on my face - 1 from a motorcycle accident, and one from a county ditch/hydro arm mower kicking a rock & hit me on the chin when I was ~7 fishing down by a local creek.

1 of them is ‘kinda cool’ - the other one is a ‘It was a 1 in a million shot, doc!’ (Seinfeld reference).

The county mower / rock toss is the one I hate telling the story of.

If all our bumps & dents happened on Hell’s Ladder, Claw Hammer or Jackhammer we’d be awesome - but sometimes it’s a shopping cart or say ..... a 8’ piece of 1.5” box tube falling out of the storage rack in the shop (not that I’d know  ).

:meh:

Had a dent guy who uses glue try it out. Due to the strength or thickness of the 80s steel, his method didn't work. The crease won't budge. Tried to get at it from the inside, but the placement of the crease doesn't work well with where the hole is behind the trim piece.

$%&#!%^!&$#!

It's hard to get a dent out of a rounded corner. I used to do pdr 20 years ago. My brother still does it and owns is own company.

That’s what he said as well. Stronger area than a flat surface to shape the metal. Wound still fresh. Bugs the 1st world prob crap outta me.

What would a competent body shop do? Pretty intrusive I presume?
