Just trying to see what you guys, if any of you, did to paint the engine bay? I took my radiator out for a replacement today and im just thinking of running with it and going to town in there. I can remove fenders and front apron area and take it to a body shop or- do some people just remove some accessories and get some color match spray paint in there? it doesnt have to look perfect, but i want it to look decent. any suggestions?

A guy could have a shop do it, but as you might guess, much of that quality work will be hidden. I say, it's a great DIY project for a newb painter.

the thing about a shop painting it, you could get a great quality clear coat to help keep the nice look. I did mine with rattle can clear, and with putting the motor back in and just hooking things up, it is tough to keep it looking brand new like it did right after i painted it. A great clear coat would add alot.

that being said, you will be the only one to know. It's all hidden.

I used rust bullet in my entire engine bay when I had the engine pulled. Search and you can find some pictures.

I'm in favor of light color, whether it matches the exterior color or not. Makes seeing to work on things stuffed into some tiny little cranny much easier.

I powdercoated my fenders and rust bulleted my firewall. I spray canned the radiator and headlight front support piece. (I wish I would have had that powdercoated...). If I get any pics on my PC, I'll post them. I'm in the slow lane with my V8 conversion.

I scuffed with scotch brite and cleaned with some soap before spraying.
