I have 2 45 lv's. The first has been in my garage for years. Once upon a time, it was my daily driver. Then the original motor died. Because I depended on it as my only way of getting around, I picked up a low mileage F motor out of a Japanese fire engine from Specter and installed it quicly to get it going again. Less than a month after I got it running, I "inherited" a little Nissan and decided to drive it rather than the lv. I did not like diving the Nissan but I did like the idea of not driving the lv anymore, so I sold the Nissan and picked up an FJ40 to drive around. Since then I have owned several other Cruisers, and currently use a beautiful 1985 FJ60 as my DD. Back to the lv though. It is a '65, bone stock, except the 3-on the tree has been converted to a floor shifter. It is without a doubt the nicest unrestored 45 wagon I've ever seen. It has a straight, rust free body. The only dent is in the passenger side front door.
I recently picked up another lv...a '67, also bone stock, which I bought on Ebay, sight unseen. My original plan was to throw a few bucks into the '67 then sell it and use the proceeds to restore the '65. However, the '67's body is kinda rough, plus it has a factory PTO winch!!!! So now I'm thinking of doing the '65 first (it won't take much), then selling it to fund the buildup of the '67 into a trail rig, which I would keep. This makes more sense (I can't keep both) especially since the '67 has a remakably nice, complete interior and I could pull what I need from it to bring the '65 back to as-new condition. I'm talking about the original seats and door handles mostly.
I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Thanks for reading.
This forum is too cool!
