5k with taxes out the door..so was like 4400....but still 5k......yes...350 in it. from what i can see, they didnt tear up to much in it to install the 350...runs really good too...only 33,700 on odometer.

Its not worth 5K with that chev motor in it. But I would be willing to save you from any further embarisment and give you $4500 + taxes and bring it up to Montana so you would never have see it again. I could be there by noon.

Most excellent find and purchase. you have the envy of most on this board.

I stand by my offer.

yea..almost no rust through..smallish spot in drivers side floor...nothing in roof or corners and none in cab corners or door sill area...bed has a couple small spots on cross fram sills..but thats it......paul

Those cross supports were not Toyotas best design nothing but traps for water in the front ones with holes in the top of the bed to fill them and the back ones were open on the ends and rotted from the inside. If not to bad I would clean them out and seal them with POR, Ospho and plug them up.

couple pics

yes, that's the bug-catcher window. the pull for 4wd is correct, it's vaccuum activated.

what stumps me is the knob on DS next to the windshield lockdown. what is that for?

Knob on the drivers side is for the plow pump. Pull to raise; push to lower IIRC. My uncle had one like that on my first FJ40...

Nice truck!

vin

this the only tag with vin....or is there another somewhere that i dont see or have?...has frame numbers that match to this tag on firewall, but cant seem to find any other one...thx again, paul

I've never posted any photos on mud, so if this doesn't work I apologise in advance. This is the 1978 FJ45 which was in the article I wrote about in the Jan/Feb 2005 issue of Toyota Trails. I traded my 1997 HZJ75 pickup for her, even up swap. It's all-orginal, unrestored, from the factory tool kit to the Nippon Denso AM radio.

It's not totally rust-free, but is pretty close. There's a couple bubbles on the bed and a couple on the driver's side door, but other than that it's in way better condition than most 78 40 series I've seen. And I've never in my life seen a stock, unrestored bed in this good a condition.

"Rita" isn't a wheeling rig, she's too pretty, plus the stock one ton suspension doesn't flex until I have about a ton or a ton and a half in the bed. She's a reliable daily driver with about 179,000 kms on her. Jumps to life when you turn the key, and everything works perfectly just like off the showroom floor. Lord knows I have too many Land Cruiser projects, so it's nice when all I have to do is change the oil and filter every 4000 kms. I did have to replace a wiper blade last weekend...

That is sweet, Jeff.

Welcome to the 45 section Jeff! Cool score even if it was hard to watch the 75 go..

Guess I jinxed her when I posted up here...yesterday I noticed fluid coming down the inside of the firewall under the clutch pedal, and paint bubbling. Sure enough...leaking clutch master. So I pop the hood to check the reservoir level, which was fine, only to find...

The brake master is puking too! Pumping from rear res to front, overflowing out the top. Also, turns out that the brake master is a non-USA special 'cause of the front drums and extra large bore. And on top of all that, my 71 fuel tank is still leaking and last night I talked to the dude who *was going to* sell me his good condition used tank and he hasn't even yanked it, let alone shipped it. Grrrr

I remember meeting Mr. Zepp and his HZJ75 at Cruise Moab two years ago. He was the trail leader on "Fins and Things" the first day. I remember pulling up to the meeting spot that morning, and finding his 70 series pickup parked there, the first 70 series I had ever seen in person. Naturally I wanted to find out more about it. I wandered over to Jeff and his truck, told him how nice the truck was, and asked him where it was from. His smug reply to me was "From Japan, they all come from Japan." And that was it, end of conversation. :o

Well Jeff, I already know where your 45 is from, so if we meet again I won't bother asking.

Hi Scoot Jocky - What's yer name? Sorry for the smug reply...since the HZJ75 was only "sorta" legal I had to keep details to a minimum during the 4 years I owned it. Technically, the authorities could have impounded it and sent it to the crusher.

Are you sure that was Cruise Moab 2003? That was the last year I took that truck to Moab, and I believe I led Fins the second day, Friday. Chris and Mary MacLeod gunned for me on that run in their purple Taco. I had already broken my lock right and sheared all my axle studs two days earlier on Poison Spider. By Fins I had already replaced the broken lockright with open side gears, and replaced all the broken studs, but I was tense and tired of having to fix the carnage.

It was Cruise Moab 2002 that I broke everything on the first day on Fins in that truck, rear pinion plus front diff carrier. Butch Baker (Texican) and John Harlow of Lone Star saved my sorry butt and strapped me back to camp.

On Cruise Moab 2001 I broke a spring pack center pin on Gold Bar rim.

At Moab in 2000 I broke a rear axle shaft on Poison Spider.

Did you read the article in Trails? If so, that would have answered a lot of your questions. I'll be happy to answer any more, either here, on the LCML or direct. BTW, my contact info is in Toyota Trails too, part of the officer thing.

Happy cruisin'!
