You know it's a good day when you are surfing the 'net at work and stumble upon a 45 Series forum!

I have 2 45 lv's. The first has been in my garage for years. Once upon a time, it was my daily driver. Then the original motor died. Because I depended on it as my only way of getting around, I picked up a low mileage F motor out of a Japanese fire engine from Specter and installed it quicly to get it going again. Less than a month after I got it running, I "inherited" a little Nissan and decided to drive it rather than the lv. I did not like diving the Nissan but I did like the idea of not driving the lv anymore, so I sold the Nissan and picked up an FJ40 to drive around. Since then I have owned several other Cruisers, and currently use a beautiful 1985 FJ60 as my DD. Back to the lv though. It is a '65, bone stock, except the 3-on the tree has been converted to a floor shifter. It is without a doubt the nicest unrestored 45 wagon I've ever seen. It has a straight, rust free body. The only dent is in the passenger side front door.

I recently picked up another lv...a '67, also bone stock, which I bought on Ebay, sight unseen. My original plan was to throw a few bucks into the '67 then sell it and use the proceeds to restore the '65. However, the '67's body is kinda rough, plus it has a factory PTO winch!!!! So now I'm thinking of doing the '65 first (it won't take much), then selling it to fund the buildup of the '67 into a trail rig, which I would keep. This makes more sense (I can't keep both) especially since the '67 has a remakably nice, complete interior and I could pull what I need from it to bring the '65 back to as-new condition. I'm talking about the original seats and door handles mostly.

I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Thanks for reading.

This forum is too cool!

Nice to hear of another Garage with 2 LV's in it! Post some pictures! When did you buy the LV off of ebay? Was it the Cali or the southern one? If it was recent (last year) i've seen it. Check out www.root45.com if you like the LV.

Cheers

Mikesta,

I tried your link and it did not work.

I got the wagon off Ebay around the 1st of the year. It came from Idaho via Oregon.

The SoCal one you mentioned...was that the one where the guy wanted $15K and only put one pic and about a 5 word description? That one is located very close to where I live. I wanted to see it in person. I contacted the seller 4 times by email. Talked to him on the phone a couple of times. He kept telling me the car was in his friend's garage and he needed to set up a viewing time with him. Said he'd call me back with a time, but never did. I though it was strange that he would not try harder to let me take a look.

Anyway, I'm at work now. I'll snap a few pics and put 'em up here when I get a few minutes. Probably the first of next week. I'm off to the DMV now to hopefully get the '67 titled and registered. They are giving me a hard time because the VIN on the Idaho title starts with T67FJ45xxx, but on the frame and motor, there is no T67. Could they be a bit more picky? All the numbers to the right of FJ45 are identical. I guess they figure this could be a coincidence.

Later.

Chef, thanks for the welcome. I'll post some pics soon. I promise.

Land Cruiser Junky, your wagon is really cool. I was wondering, are you in SoCal? I was at Specter Off Road a couple weeks ago showing Marv my "new" wagon, and he was telling me about somebody that had put a 35 series grille on a 45lv. Gotta be you, no? I think Marv said the car was in Santa Clarita.

66 FJ45 lwb pickup, somewhat modified...

- Chevy 454, bored .030 over, '70 Chevelle 4-bolt main, balanced, 7/16" con rods, 3/8" pushrods, oval port heads machined to accept 2.19/1.88 Manley valves, Corvette 7-qt. oil pan with baffles and windage tray, factory Holley cast iron intake manifold, quadrajet, HEI ignition, Accel coil, block hugger hedman headers, blah blah
- SM465, NP205
- front disc LC axle, rear narrowed Dana 60 FF w/Dutchman axles, 4.11s
- front/rear ARBs
- ButchBuilt Saginaw PS, looks like Marlin steering arms, custom tie-rods
- spring-over, 37" MTRs on MRW beadlocks
- rear frame bobbed about 10"
- Auto-Meter gauges
- Warn 8274 winch

The goal is to turn the flatbed into something similar to Mudrak's and mount my Hannibal tent for trips to Rubicon, Naches, dunes, snow, etc. Has two lwb beds, one in excellent shape, one rough. For how it's built, I think the ute setup will stay.

It seems to wheel pretty well. :D

OK, I have a few photos, let's see if I can post 'em.

OK, figured out one way to post pics.

The white wagon is a recent acquisition. It's in pretty nice shape save for a dent in the RR quarter and some ugly rust around both of the side windows in the cargo area.

The middle picture is a 1965 that we have had for a long time. A former daily driver, it has been sitting for quite a while. In the last 2 years, it has become sort of a shed within the garage. That is going to change soon though...as soon as I decide what I want to do. This car is really nice. You can see the dent in the front door, but this is the biggest problem with the wagon. The rest of the body is in excellent shape. The F motor has less than 25K original miles on it.

At this point, I'm leaning towards doing a frame on resto on the '65 and keeping the '67 for wheeling. That is subject to change though. I'm busy for the next 2 weekends, but after that, I plan to start on...something.

Uhh, gallery?

And this is my daily driver. Wrong forum, I know, but you can see her in the background of the pics of the '67, so I had to put up a pic of the FJ60. I friggin love this car. Bought it almost 3 years ago off the original owner. She's got 188K miles and has never been off road. Drives like a champ, and looks almost new. People who ride in it for the first time cannot believe it is 20 years old. When I got it, it had 165K and I said that if anything ever happened to the 2F, I'd swap it out for a turbo diesel and a 5 speed. Could be a while before that is necessary though.

I registered at root45. I'll have to figure out how to post my pictures there. I might as well snap a few more before I do that.

Treeroot, you have 6 lvs? Excellent. What are you doing with them?
