I have a 1971 Toyota FJ40 that originally had a 3 on the tree. I am going to convert it to a 4 on the floor. At the same time I purchased the 1978 2F engine I also got with it a 4 speed transmission + transfer case and Todd Toyota Overdrive unit.

Question: Can I run the Todd Toyota Overdrive Unit at the same time as having my PTO unit hooked up and ready to go? See pics:

The only exception would be if you have an early transmission with removable side cover and some how found a PTO drive … I have only seen on early fj25 in pictures never seen in person

I had four of the FJ25 PTOs at one time. Those are all straight cut gear and will not work on the H42. You need to use it with the transmission in neutral. Never seen the one used on the later four speed. Can't help but wonder if matters if the transmission was an H41 or H42. If one or the other think a H41 would be required. This PTO was never imported to the US. Most market had the H41 while US had a H42. Would what one of those PTO without knowing what transmission it works with.

If you want to drive a winch just get an electric winch. You can get more powerful winches then the PTO winch and wont need to worry about the shear pins. You wont need to be inside the cab to operate it either.

I have been toying with the idea of using a power steering pump with an electric clutch to drive the front hydraulic winch/snow blower/wood splitter - the electric winch can be on the back.
