Our signature event we throw every year since 05 I believe. I thought we might do the Georgia traverse this time but the more I think about it being on hot dusty gravel roads every single day with a train of cruisers doesn't appeal to me in late August. Nor does the idea of having to make it so people could join us at specific spots on different days.

Current layout.

Day 1 Wednesday

Meet at the SC/GA border on Hwy 76 at 2pm on Wednesday.
Dropped Pin

Drive a few miles and set up camp on the Chattoggaa River and camp for the night.

If that spot is taken our secondary will require crossing war woman river. Stock cruisers can do it as long as you stick to the crossing. We will probably do this crossing on our way out Thursday morning even if we camp in the first spot.

Alternative camp spot for Wednesday night

Day 2 Thursday

Drive through some Georgia trails and head over to Jocassee Gorges State Park in NC and camp for the night down on the river Thursday night. The entrance is here.

The park closes at 10 so if you can’t get in by then you will have to wait till the next day. The location is the beginning of the trail. It’s about 2 miles in to a crossroads where you can only turn right. Then another 2-3 miles down to the river. We should be at the river. I don’t expect to have someone taking the spot but if they do and we can’t camp there we will move out to my buddies cabin up hwy 215 for the night.

Day 3 Friday

Drive up to camp in Cullowhee, NC and camp for the night. I've yet to come up with this route but will probably encompass a lot of dirt and gravel roads.

Camp for the night.

Day 4

Drive to Courthouse Falls off hwy 215 for lunch
Dropped Pin

and a swim then on up the Blue Ridge Parkway to our spot we have been going to for the past 11 years. We will be doing some brush clearing and putting up one baracade where people have decided to make their own trail. We are the stewards of the the trail we will be camping on Saturday night. There will also be hikers on this trail as well. Many of them are not prepared to see a vehicle in this area. I ask that you are courteous to them by trying to give them room to pass. Most will step off the trail and let you pass. It’s easier for us and them. Just be nice. The last thing we need is to make waves. And you don’t want to be that guy.

Meals. Undecided but we will be bringing the club cooker.

Please note these trails are all capable in a stock land cruiser. That being said things can happen. Please make sure you are prepared. A fire extinguisher is a must. I suggest to have some tools. You certainly need a spare tire. Most of the trails will be mostly scratch free except for saturday and Sunday. By far the most amazing campsite but it comes at a cost. A past club officer made the mistake of saying you will get light pinstriping. It’s major pinstriping. In some spots the trail is narrower than your truck. If you want to camp but don’t want the damage you can park at the trailhead in a parking spot, throw your camping stuff in one of the other trucks and ride along. I wouldn’t suggest bringing your kids if you do that but I’m sure wives and dogs are fine. Speaking of dogs. If you are bringing a dog that doesn’t get along with other dogs make sure you have him on a leash. There are through hikers coming through camp and it would look bad if they were attacked or their dog was attacked.

As far as alcohol. We will most likely be camping and riding in state and federal parks where alcohol is prohibited. That being said we have never had an issue. We are all adults and can make our own decisions. Out of sight out of mind.

Should be a great week and weekend. Highs will be in the mid 70’s with lows possibly in the upper 40’s.

We are also in the mountains where rain showers and wind can be a factor. Be prepared! We will bring the club 10x20 canopy for rain at night.

There will be plenty of stops for gas and probably a grocery store on Friday.

Also note we are in black bear country. Don’t put food in your tent. We can string up trash at night.

I'm in

Supposed to close on the sale of our house the 24th. Killing me..........

Right now, I'm tentatively in for myself plus at least 2 smaller versions of myself. Have a big test at work beginning of September, need to study before OTMT to make sure I don't need to spend this weekend hitting the books.

BTW, Owen hasn't stopped asking to go back since we left last year. If it's up to him, we'd go every weekend.

Shirts are up! Two designs, one with a 4" chest logo, the other with a full back. Either one has a 4" club logo on the opposite side.

Use promo code OTMT for 10% anything in the store through the weekend.

Upstate Cruisers Swag Store

Runs will be every 3 days, and they will be available for order until the week following the event.

@Bryanseye pointed me here ... I might drop in to camp.

Y'all are talking about Gorges State Park near Rosman, yeah?

Do you have the GPS coordinates for the campsite the first day? Thinking of heading out after work, Wednesday . I have never been to this site ,always start on Thursday or Friday.

I may try to work it out and come up Saturday but may be doubtful at best.
