Is the higher drawer the right height to fold the rear seats forward and have a level sleeping platform?

Nobody kills a thread like me baby. Nooooobody.

Don't feel too badly. I built my own drawer system out of 3/4 inch marine plywood specifically so I could sleep on it. I bought a matress from IKEA that fits like a glove. Just at a glance based on the height of these drawers, it should work just fine. At worst case, sleep with your head at the tailgate and your feet might droop a little or be slightly higher. The matress I bought is so thick you'll never know the difference.

I am curious about what the allowable poundage is for the drawer system. I carry about 500 lbs of tools in my drawer system. If I can carry that much in two of these drawers I would have an interest. They are lighter than my marine plywood by quite a bit!

Well they look pretty good and I'm sure they are lighter and a lot less cumbersome than anything I could build. I think I'm gonna take a hard look at these once I'm in good mechanical order.

So is the RDRF1045 and the fit kit all you need to get what you have? 2 drawers with 1 having a roller floor?

@musthave Since I couldn't figure out which side I wanted to have my roll out floor on, I installed 2* RDRF1045 and the fit kit, which is ARB1154.

@namsag The taller drawers (like the RDRF1045) are pretty level with the back seat when folded down. there is a gap between them which some have filled with a custom platform to extend the drawers out. I just throw a full sized or twin air mattress back there and sleep like a champ and never notice the gap.

We recently updated the drawer system to add a stacked drawer on driver's side and a full size drawer on passenger side with a tilt-down slide from Alu-Cab for the fridge.

We have also created custom sleeping platform extensions for these drawer systems since the original post:

That looks really nice. What kind of lights are you using to light up the tailgate area so well? Looks like you need to wear shades back there!

Hahaha. It's not as bright as it looks in that pic. We also have the side floods on as well as the camp lights (rock lights) underneath. it is two of the Rigid A-series rock lights, high-power.

Any pics of the tilt down fridge slide in action? Looking for something like that so that the wife and daughter can get things out of the fridge without complaining about how high up it is.

Do you have the capability of making one wide drawer (twice as wide on bottom) with dividers and two drawers above (same as ones in pic)?

Thanks
D

This was our first install of this product and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. The fit and finish and modularity (word?) of the system is superb. It's quite a feat of engineering to make this such a robust but universal system.

Pictured: Roller floor on driver's side, drawer with fixed top on passenger side. 80-series fit kit on passenger side (cannot be used - without modification that wasn't completed here - with the roller floor). Engel MT60 Combi fridge and freezer with insulated transit bag. Added power inverter in cubby of fit kit on passenger side.

Reviving an old thread. Do you have any pics of the Alu-Cab tilt-down slide in the "open" position? I'd like to see how accessible the fridge is on top of the drawer.

Are these drawers flush with the 2nd row folded, if I wanted to use it as a sleeping platform??

The drawers and seats are pretty level. I use a queen size air mattress on top of the drawers and folded down rear seats. There's a little bit of a gap between the seats and the drawers, but it sleeps pretty good that way.

Are the drawers slightly taller than the folded seats? Or vice versa?

Has anyone installed a set of these WITHOUT drilling? Picked up a set yesterday instead of building my own largely because i thought they bolted in without the need to drill through the floor. Instructions state to drill multiple 10mm holes which i'd much prefer not to do. Can't seem to find any threads with a really detailed install.

Thats a bit of a surprise, thought they were direct bolt in as well.

Also, since were on the subject, does anyone have a line on the tan colored version? Saw them in a random stock photo and they look a lot cleaner in the oak interiors than the grey.
