And in with the New!

I just wanted to check in, show off the new rig and thank you all for the amazing and invaluable support over the past few years of LC 80 ownership. While I do not post much, it has been a pleasure hanging out and I am quite sure there is no other forum quite like this.
I'll be back in a Cruiser before long, for now I am taking a "sensible" DD approach but I'll check in from time to time!

Cheers guys! :flipoff2:

I always liked the full size Monty's, nice rig.

Nice truck and congrats! I think I saw that 4 sale on Expo/Overland...

Is that an SR?

Nice! the monteros are supposed to be nice. Some came with locking rear diffs, didn't they?

Solid axle?

That's why I asked about the SR. IFAIK, the SR (which threadstarter says is 2nd gen only) came with a locking rear diff and some other goodies (HP boost, trim, etc).

I looked at them a little bit. It seems like they are pretty capable trucks. Good power, locking rear diff, FJ80 size, etc...

Congrats man!! Keep this thread up to date with your impressions after you've had a chance to drive it for a while. It's always good info when an informed owner can do a back to back comparo between two rigs he own(ed).

Yeah, I do think the 2nd Gen came with the locking rear and center diff's, 3rd gen has the locking center diff and limited slip diff in the rear which supposedly works quite well.

Thanks man, I intend to do so!
I struggled with the decision with no real comprehensive comparisons available online and am still a bit anxious about the change and taking the Monty offroad but for my use (no serious wheeling, backcountry camping and overland travel on mild to maybe moderate trails), it should do just fine even with independent suspension.

Is that thing IRS? or solid rear axle?

And an instant 47HP loss.....

and a whole lot lighter than the 80 (unibody). Monty - 231 hp/250 ft-lb, vs 80 - 212 hp/275 ft-lb, so the Monty probably feels like a rocket comparatively!!
