I finally got the time to get the 45 project going again. I pulled it out and drove to the store on Saturday, only to find the front right brake locking up on me. Oh well, haven't driven it in at least three years, got to expect most of the seals are giving up their life. So, after getting it out again, I'm energized about painting it soon. I've been reviewing old photos here and there and can't really come to any definite answers. What color are the mirrors and arms supposed to be? Turn signal and hood latch colors? Which is correct, clear or amber turns on the front? When the truck is painted white, are the top and bezel the same color or slightly more white? I thought the rims were originally black, but now I'm second guessing that.

I don't get how you can go three years without driving that? I can't go three days with out a fix.

Everything is body color except the bezel, it's white, although I've seen black ones. My turn signals are clear. And NO they are not faded, they are clear. Wheels should be grey.

Pretty easily actually. Factor in a new marriage, two house moves, an FJ55, 60, 40, another 40, two kitchen remodels, and the fact that the 45 was partially disassembled while POR-15ing the rear frame.

I have seen silver hood hooks and turn signals, but I have also seen near factory literature showing body color stuff. I think you are probably right.

Hard to see in this photo, but it matches your info. BUT it's from 1961...not 1966.

In the picture above, the turn signals are amber, but one of mine (the one that looks original) is clear as you mentioned.

TLC's version

Amber lights all over, body colored mirrors and turns, but silver hooks.

And this is what I was going by when I painted the wheels black. You can't tell me these are gray..... unless they are VERY dark gray. Wish this photo was color......

I agree the wheels on 60's LWB trucks are black. But they were also 16 inches in diameter!

from the '64 service bulletin:

parts books, show 16 and 15. all US sales lit(that I can recall) mentions 15

but i have seen the same thing as you.

I like that picture, John. It also shows the position of the hand crank bracket (have to remember it's silver like the bumper color).

So, maybe its possible that the 15 inch wheels were gray, and the 16s were black. Or do we know for sure? I definitely like black the best!

Wow, I hadn't seen those photos before. That clears a lot up. So it appears they just sprayed the whole truck while assembled... I always thought that just looked like a cheap paint job, but good to know it's original.

that one cost me a few $$, there isn;t much color lit for the early Cruisers.

FYI, fj25;s even had the frame and wheels painted body color
