I'm at store 4858. Good to see another TM in the 'cruiser community.

I'm going to try the 34/78PLT as well, when the time is right. I'll be using the side terminals for my winch connections.

I think I'd connect the winch to the top posts. Those side terminals were designed to start a GM car, starter engaged for all of 10-15 seconds if that. I think winching with a high load for a much longer period is not advisable. Not trying to derail the original thread, just don't want to hear of you getting stuck because that terminal melted. I've seen those melted before, without a winch being involved.

That sounds like a reasonable argument. I too have seen side post batteries with melted posts. Usually from a bad connection. I have run a winch connected this way before, with a Yellow Top in my old 4Runner. Never gave me any problems. Thanks for your input, I will take it into consideration.

Follow up on your battery since you purchased it @GW Nugget I was just looking at this exact same model for my battery, gonna replace the red-top Optima I currently have that was installed by the PO.

I bought mine in Nov. 2013 & it's still doing great! Rig is about to be parked for 8 days so I'll read voltage before I start it.

Picking one up today for my Tundra after reading this thread. This forum is the best!
