I'm on the hunt for a 40. This one is in GA, has a 2f, 4spd, front disk. Owner said he would take $7k. He has a set of barn doors, and patch panels for the corners. Seats are not stock, no jump seats, roll bar is not stock.

Buy it, I don't think you will lose $....you've seen the crap Mr T is coming out with for the younger generations....these aren't going to be replicated! I have a weakness for dune beige so if you don't buy it let me know!!!!!

If you need someone in Atlanta to check it out for you, let me know. Have a contact in Duluth who knows Land Cruisers well!

How important is matching vintage to you, as in are you okay with a mixed bag of parts all from different years.

I think that's a fair price these days. Like Rice said, it's not all original so that and the visible rust are issues that affect value. I'd be worried about the rust you don't see in the pics.

If it were me, I'd drive it like it is and enjoy it, fixing things as you can. I think the 2F and disk brakes are improvements. I prefer those tail lights and the rear hatch to what's stock on my '77. Those seats have got to be more comfortable than stock.

I agree with David and Rice. As long as having a pristine numbers matching vehicle doesn't matter, I'd buy it and rock it as is. If you decide to fix the rust, there are aftermarket patches out there for the lower driver door. The 2F and disc brakes are improvements and I like those tail lights. The rust doesn't seem too bad, so you can concentrate on functionality before worrying about appearance.

$7K sounds like a deal.

Looks fairly decent and most of the visible parts are year appropriate. Like others have mentioned the 2F and discs are a plus.

Be very aware that if you see the rust you see, there is likely much more under the paint...but most all are going to have it, especially at the below 10k price point. I would even spend my money on it if I was in the search!

Everyone has valid points. I think the biggest drawback, is it's not a local truck that I can get to and drive in a reasonably amount of time. It's not like Atlanta is Los Angeles, but still..... I already wasted one trip to Charleston.

With regard to the rust, the owner told me that is why another guy passed on it....too afraid of what might lie underneath the paint.

i agree with others above, in today's market you really can not lose at that price. If you buy it and end up not liking it you will get your money back selling it.

You should get some pics of the undercarriage, and inside lower doors, wheel wells etc.

IMHO Sub $15k you can expect some rust on the sill, lower quarters, front fenders, bed/floors etc. looks pretty complete( ask about unicorn parts, visors, door limiters, dome light)... collecting parts gets pricy... wagon wheels are a nice starting point.

From the minimal pics the front floors and rear bed actually look pretty decent. Probably $1000 of patch panels would ultimately be needed unless your good at patch work.

Looks like a fair price to me. And a couple quick cosmetic touches would really make it look great!

I'd just be cautious and realistic until you see pics underneath... specifically rear cross member, the center beam behind/below front seats with body mount(in front of rear wheel), inner rockers and floor.

Keep us posted, I like the winch too(prolly worth $500).

@murphy744 - not sure if ur still looking but just saw this pop up.

No affiliation

Original paint maybe? Rust, ugly bumper, rough interior I assume, weird corner lights

If your daring, I bet u could get the price down

FJ land cruiser from current 4.5k

I spoke with him last night. He gave me the run down. 2F is in tact, but the head is off. Probably looking at least a top end rebuild. Rear spring hanger broke off the frame...not sure how yet....rust? Dont' know. Floor pans are ok, most of the rust is exterior. Top needs attention, fiberglass repair, broken glass...yada, yada, yada. On a good note, he said he would deliver..

^^^ could end up getting that for a good price, but beware there's a half / 3 quarter tub in rust there.

I know, would have to get a tetanus shot prior to working on it. There is a 74' close by for $5k that run well, top, doors are good. The owner diamond plated the bed and driver floor pan. Its tough being in this price point!
