Getting an itch to do something drastic.

Which do you prefer and why?

any pros or cons you see with any particular setup?

That last pic looks better than the ones above. I think if the rear "bed" was longer it would look better like below. Hilux like.

one more kinda the same

The last one, still has a usable rear seat and doors for loading and unloading.

First = el camino
second = Ford explorer sport trac
third = Subaru Baja

I like your fourth option.... the 4 door ute. The longer bed to me necessitates stretching the wheelbase to look right.

Check out the Land Speeder version.......... https://forum.ih8mud.com/3650136-post60.html

Four doors with the little bed is better. Get a truck if you just want two doors with a bed. The extra seats and doors come in handy I think.

I think you should do something like Slee's version...

Like the third pic, seems easier to do with having the rear doors.
Cheers for a cool project.

I like these variations...but I really think they need a minimum of 35s to look right. If money were no issues, my 80 would have been converted and running 37s, ala Podvin's 100 Series Ute, long ago.

Chop the top, roll cage, and soft top a la first-gen 4Runner...

meh. I think if you are after that just buy a tacoma and do a SAS with a 80 front axle.

Part of what attracts me to the 80 is the enclosed area where you can pack everything away out of the elements.

Why not go all out and give it a stretch

keep 4 doors, add a tray-back to whatever size you need the "bed" to be.

Or just bob the rear and be done with it- you've got a trailer to haul the stuff anyway.

i did that to my 94 (4 doors opening back hatch and like a 20 inch box) its ok the 20 inch box is kind of useless
