Loved the idea of the original thread from Jason but there were too many sad moments between Thatcher and Swampthing to revive it, so let's start fresh.

Feel free to include any of your beloved family pets.

Our newest addition to the family

Here's mine. My wife has a dog allergy so we have to have dogs that don't have fur. So these little s***zus are what we've got. They're very affectionate, but they are dumb as posts... Ollie is the white one, Ruby is the black one.

Also have a reef aquarium, but seeing as how I don't name the fish I don't really have a lot to say about it.

ahh my new favorite thread! little miss daisy is without a doubt my shadow. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to sneak her off to college with me..

Henry - almost 15 year old Australian Cattle dog. Rescue from a great organization in Cary - well at least it used to be in Cary in 2000 - bfpa.org. Too smart and believes he does not live a life of luxury.

Rudy on the left, Jacob on the right. Both are rescues.

Rudy aka Boots is now 6-7 yrs old. He is my shadow, but we can't take him anywhere because he is psychotic and has awful dog aggression. Thankfully he is perfect with people.

Jacob is ~8 yrs old, was a stray in the Wake County shelter. Not sure what all he has in him. He is an awesome companion, total sweetheart and we like to think somewhat cultured - he doesn't gulp all of his food at once, he chews treats to enjoy them, strikes beautiful poses, and loves a good ale.

This Mr. Bean. Sadly he didn't make the move to NC, lost him to a brain tumor this Spring.

That is Simon and Amos in my avatar, Amos has gone to that horse chasing ranch in the sky.
This is Bristol-Blood Hound German Shepard mix

If you have ever looked at my photos around the shop, you've seen Max. Best guess is he is 13. He came with the house when we bought it in 2010. You could not ask for a better dog.

I agree with Hannah. New favorite thread.

Shep .... some form of black lab/shepherd mix. Found abandoned on our farm as a pup 11 years ago.
Gabby .... a Papillon/Lasa mix that was Natalie's dog before she and I met. Still with us at 18 years old.

Great idea, getting a chance to post pics of the knuckleheads, I'll play.

And to Hannah...that light bulb moment when my girls realized they won't have a dog until they get through college and have a "real" job was devestating for them. We bring them to campus (way short drive for us) every chance we can, we get swamped by all the other kid's who miss their pups also.

Rubi on the way home from the breeder...

This is Miss Maple, she is a rescue from the Guilford County, NC animal shelter and I got her at 3 1/2 months old. Both the shelter and vets office said she was a mix of Golden Retriever and German Shepherd. For the first 5 years of her life she went with me to work everyday and once I retired she acted lost.

Here she is at 5 months.

Later at four years old just after a bath and a trim. Her fur is much longer.

You WANT this dog camping with you, my favorite two dogs outside my own. You want a good laugh, watch these two get out of the back of a VW TDI and listen to the shocks sigh in relief.

Dave, you are gonna need a troopy to haul Zeke, great looking dog.

I love this thread

^^ x 2, love this thread. And, yes, Rubi has that special gene in her DNA that makes her a great guardian. I will always have a Tibetan Mastiff in my pack...

Is Diesel also a Tibetan Mastiff? I though Diesel looked a lot like a Greater Swiss Mountain dog. Nevertheless, a beautiful dog!

beautiful dogs everywhere.. now, why haven't I seen any of the dozens of black dogs that ONSC has? Maybe we'll be able to tell them apart.

Diesel is a Bernese Mountain Dog, very similar to the Greater Swiss, main difference is the Swissy has a much shorter coat. Berners are the happiest, friendliest breed I've known...

Max is a working dog, here he is on a test run

Love all the dogs and their stories and pictures!

This is Harry aka Hare Bear and Mr Bud. He is a Scottish gentleman, now ~13 years. He was "rescued" from a lady whose husband left her with 6 total dogs. He is a pure-bred West Highland Terrier (Westie).

He is "the best dog in the world" around our house. He is an excellent watch dog, always and ONLY barking when he feels someone is coming to the door he doesn't know (he can actually tell people he has met before).

He is pretty serious, but extremely loving. When we catch him smiling (yes he does), he usually will stop when he knows we are watching - I think he has "an image to uphold."

Unfortunately, he hates water. We think he was abused before he came to us and water had some part of that abuse.

He is getting older and we would like to find a friend for him.

This is him acting pretty serious at our old house the day we moved:
