I don't know if anyone else noticed but Brittany Force won Top Fuel (drag racing) at Pomona and clinched the Top Fuel title, only the second woman to ever accomplish that and the last time was 35 years ago. Not only did she win but her sister's husband took top honors in Funny Car and her sister Courtney took third overall in Funny Car. Tell me that John Force isn't about the proudest father out there. Over 330 MPH in less than a quarter mile, you go girls!

In other news Danica Patric crashed another car and came in 23, again......................
Yet she is the woman other women hold up as an example. Go figure.

I noticed.... didn't know anyone else followed it.

Couple friends were at Pomona watching. I do miss racing at that track.

We had an exciting morning. We got a hysterical call from my daughter in her bus on the way to school from swim practice that there was a shooting at her high school.

I loaded up the Tundra around 8 AM with my 300 BLK, my new Glock 43, 2x First Aid kits and raced to the Lowe's parking lot to pick up my daughter. Her bus driver left the school line and raced to the Lowe's to avoid incident upon learning the school was on lock down for an active shooter.

Ended up taking a few of my daughter's teammates from the swim team to their homes, as well . . .and then the news came out that it was "a hunter" or something.

Northwood High School is safe. Sheriff says there is no shooter

We had to inform the school that my daughter also got a SnapChat from someone she didn't know that she should "Stay Away From School" BEFORE anything went down :\ So all VERY confusing right now.

We ended up taking her back - - so looking forward to her getting home tonight to discuss the crazy day :\

BTW - Be sure to remember that you have to stay 1000 feet away from school property with weapons. I knew this and was careful of it.

I guess they figured out what caused the scare...
No laws broken by hunter whose shot was heard at Northwood High :: WRAL.com

Yea - I shouldn't say this, but everyone is on edge about this stuff and it just escalated out of control in the time of about 1 hour.

Break open your piggy bank!

The first 1966 Shelby GT350 prototype will be sold at Barrett-Jackson

Lets Discuss

I wasn't exactly sneaky, I guess, but you don't miss much, Jason! :)

Would you believe that I think these sliders are just too long and need to be replaced? :)

So Xmas is coming early, but the Tundra isn't going anywhere. More to follow.

For the right price . . .it could be yours!

That looks to nice to be in my price range lol I had to start leaning toward the f250 cuz some of the crew cans were only 5-7k

I've put a lot into it, so it will be tough for me to get that out if I tried to sell. I also need a truck for my side business . .so I would have to get a covered trailer or something to pull behind the LX if I did sell the Tundra - which doesn't sound practical.

1st Gen Tundra's can be found for cheap at times on Clist. Typically these have >150K and people think they are shot and just want something new.

With the 2005/2006 A750f transmission and the 2UZ they are a great combo imho - you prolly already know all this. :)

The Access Cab + 4WD in '05/'06 is hard to find - plenty of double cabs. Nothing wrong with the pre-2005 trucks, just want to make sure the A340F wasn't abused.

BTW they changed the names to Double Cab and CrewMax in 2007.

I can understand that, I felt the same about our 05 4runner 2UZ and A750f so much fun to drive tried to convince myself to buy a supercharger for it off my buddies tundra when he got in an accident but couldn't justify the price at the time.

I like the access cabs but with kid number 3 on the way I got to have alittle bit more room (also why I've considered the f250 leg room for days)

I'm just waiting till I find that good one or maybe just say screw it and buy and 80 or 100 series can't hurt to have more cruisers right??

Vague, but serious question ...

I get a call from the school office this morning .... An anonymous donor wishes to make a donation to the physics department. They would like to donate some"thing" rather than cash (as I understand it). They are asking me what I would like to have.
I have no idea the $$$ amount they are wishing to commit .... so my plan is to submit a range of physics "toys" say from $20 on up.

In that I generally do between 25 and 35 labs in a year my lab, after many years, is pretty well decked out .... but still, never say no to a donor.

The question ..... what experiment do you remember from your physics class (College or HS) that really stuck with you (in a good way)?

Thanks,
Rice

Since pyrotechnics are out, and a lot of stuff that was on the original MacGuyver is out,

Pedulum and dominos was a fun one, or a pendulum dragging across sand to make a spirograph. Some sort of acoustic directed sound system, using PVC. They had that at one of the museums i went to a while back.

Differentials and gear demonstrations. See if you could get a vendor would send you a new set of birfs to show the difference between a new one, and a worn out set. :grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp:

Demonstration on how lockers work...A vendor should step up and provide an aussie locker, a harrop e locker, an arb air locker, and an oem locker system. :grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp:

Same thing with CV joints. Show kids how their cars work.

Brake demonstration. can show how hydraulics compress the calipers and brake pads. Again, maybe a vendor will step up and provide a set of new calipers, pads, and rotors so you can compare new vs old :grinpimp::grinpimp:

Some good thoughts there, thanks. I used to have a stereo system capable of breaking glasses but had to leave it in Wake County when I moved.

Standing waves inside a resonance tube .... I could use a nice sized piece of clear plastic pipe.

Car parts ..... Hmmmmm .... you mean like turbos and intercoolers, right? :hillbilly:

I do have a latent dream of building a one-person hovercraft to send kids down the hall .... High Point University built theirs using 3 leaf blowers

I was thinking of your immediate needs ;)

I remember the leaf blower hovercraft. That was awesome.

My physics teacher in high school had a bit of a snarky streak. He took the lower performing/ahole kids in class and did the electrified fence test.
He also allowed us to build blow guns with needles and shoot at balloons taped to a bulletin board.

he also had 4 of the visible engine models, an inline 4, the visible v8, a boxer engine, and a turbine.

I really miss Mr. Crosby. I didnt realize how cool he was until many years later, and I wish I would have realized the full potential he saw in me at the time...
