@mtweller 's incident was enough to make me go get two new tires in the trailer and move my best of existing to spare location........it didnt like that!
Guess im in for one more tire and glad that didnt fail loaded with stone. But this tire showed no signs of damage when removed 4 weeks ago and tread was good. Its a passenger car tire too and 3-5 years old. Sun/heat exposure?

I have been looking at trailers lately and a lot of newer trailers are using 16" rims. The theory is that they are bigger, wider and taller, so handle heat better. They also have better load ratings as well.
Not sure if I can get the 16 inch in 5 lug though
