Bought a pair of used 2012-2013 HID AFS headlight off ebay and a couple of D2s CBI xenarc bulbs and ballasts. Install took about 2 hours. Rewiring was a breeze. I was shocked. After months of checking this board I didnt get any decent info of how hard it would be to adapt the wiring harness. It was a piece of cake. 10 minutes tops per side. You just have to remove the old harness, remove the new one entirely and splice the old one according to what wire went where....It was simple. The headlight adjustment even works!!! The only mod I had to do was adapt the D2S bulb to the D4S housing. (2 minutes with a soldering iron to melt a small notch in the plastic.) The lighting is beautiful and a huge improvement over the DIY projectors I had before. Now I just have to figure out how to manually adjust the lights up a bit because they are a little low. (my lift probably put the factory level outta whack.) One thing to nit pick: the stock leds could be a bit brighter and bluer to match the color of the light bar and xenon bulbs.
I highly recommend this mod.

Very nice.

Tell us a little about the lightbar in the grill. That is a nice setup. :bounce::bounce2:

Baja Designs 30 inch Stealth LED light bar. It looks great and fits very well in the grill of the TLC. I had to sand down a little bit of the grill and emblem to fit comfortably. My LC is armored and has a metal grating protecting the radiator so I welded the mounts to this. I hardwired everything to the high beams. Took 2-3hrs. 10,400 lumens for just the bar.

Very nice ... may have to add that to my list of future mods.

Hey excellent job with the mod! Can you add a few more pics and give an idea as to costs? Also... how's the follow to the levelling issue?

Which mod are you interested in. Probably the headlights no? I bought two used headlight assemblies off ebay for around $400 a piece. Bought a pair of ballasts and D2S bulbs. The retrofit is a cake walk. i removed all the wiring and connections from the old housing and just spliced them into the new one. So it plugs perfectly back in. It was very fast and easy to figure out. 10 minutes tops per side. Headlight leveling works with our stock dial adjuster. I took it to Toyota and they leveled it out to spec in two secs fo free.

If you're an ebay man: buy the following all inclusive package you don't need to worry about the bulbs or ballasts. Only $1600. Downside. This is a one man opportunity so other people will have to wait. The headlights come on eBay every once and a while for about 400-500 without bulbs and ballasts. These ones I believe come all together.

Damn...$1600 for headlights? Thats $600 more then the whole replacement of my rack and pinion.....

I did mine for a little more than $1,000 with top of the line ballasts and bulbs. Just depends on how patient you are waiting for the right parts to come up on eBay.
Worth every penny driving at night on poorly light streets of hell.

Is this a South American feature? NA does not have a dial adjustment for the headlights.

13-14 us models have a manual beam angle adjustment dial. Post lift I have it angled a little lower.

Nothing beats oem quality. Especially lighting (eg use factory hid bulbs).

Yea, I was wondering since when did halogen low beams have leveling?

There is a dial that marks 0-5. Worked on my old lights and was pleasantly surprised to be able to adjust the new ones with a little splice job. Red goes to red, black goes to black.

arich

Euro, African, Middle East, and some JDM spec land cruisers came with the leveling switch. its located right next to the mirror switch

part number for the switch is 84152-60060

Interesting,
Do you mind taking a picture of the location. Wondering if this dial can be retrofitted if I manage to locate a set of HID headlights. Obvioulsy it would not work with Halogens as there is not servo motor in the headlight assembly to adjust.
US models only have an Auto Level control as far as I can see. Wonder if this is plug and PLay for 13-14 models.

The 13-14 has a manual adjustment dial. Not sure how the halogen models actually adjust the angle of the low beams.

Not all models have the motor in it. I have bought 4 headlight assemblies on ebay and 2 from a dealer in Texas. I have a headlight grave yard in my service room. The older model headlights in the US do NOT have a motor.
