Just picked up some used ome heavy spring. the rear spring are clearly labeled "DS" and "PS". My question is, for the front springs, is there a Drivers side and passenger side? just checking to make sure it doesnt only pertain to the rear springs. thanks

taller ones on the left.

the one labeled PS is taller, right?

Dang.. now I'm confused. Did you mean "DS is taller, right"??

just put the taller spring on the Drivers side and you are good. Lets not confuse anybody eh.
Cheers,

Sorry about making that confusing.

Here's some history...which really should be thrown in the FAQ somewhere...

OMEs are from Australia. They were labelled DS and PS, but this was for the Aussie market. It made sense for them and their customers "down-under" because they drive on the wrong side of the road...along with a small fraction of the world's drivers.

Siince our DS and PS are opposite of their's, it became a rule that you simply do the opposite of what the labels say. That was easy.

Then, in an effort to clarify things, OME changed the DS and PS labels to RT and LT (or something similar to indicate right and left). This change seemed to confuse some -- not kidding -- who remembered the old rule of putting the springs opposite of what's labeled.

So...here's what you do with the springs...
if it has a DS/PS label, switch sides and install the PS labeled springs on the U.S. Driver's side. The DS labeled spring would naturally be installed, then, on the U.S. Passenger side.

However, if you have springs with a LT/RT label, you install them on the side indicated -- LT on the Left side (US Driver's side) and RT and the Right side (US Passenger side).

OR...
the simplest method of all...

the taller spring goes on the Left side.

Hopefully this clears it up some.

FWIW, I have a set of OME J springs sitting in the garage -- the fronts are labeled DS/PS and the rears are labeled LT/RT :D

Good clarification Norcal. Now put those J's on and get some pics up. I can't decide if I want to go to them or not.

naw...you won't need them sparky...stick with what you can handle.

besides, the Js aren't for my rig...they're for the wife's...sometime down the road...when the small chillin' can climb up on her own.

For my rig, I'm hoarding my pennies for 6s. Only 302,498 more and I'm there. Got any you can send me? You're cool with asking for free stuff, right? Send me a few of those copper-plated, zinc nuggets you have rolling around in your pockets. I'll take the nickel-lated, copper sandwiched ones too.

Looking towards the back or front?? :D

J/K, thanks for the clarification.
I knew someone would ask :)

LT and RT while sitting in the driver's seat :flipoff2:

I just got a 2.5 lift OME via UPS today, I'll install it in the next week or so. I bought it from National 4WD in Burlington, Canada. It would have cost much more if I had to buy it out of the US from Slee.

Does anyone have the castor bushing press tool that slee sells with thier kit? I'd be happy to buy it from ya.

Please email me at lshobie@yahoo.com.

Thanks

It would probably be simpler and cheaper overall to have a nearby machine shop press the bushings for you. Unless you are already properly equipped, assembling the equipment can be a job itself.

Ask Slee if he will sell you one? A 1 5/8" socket pushed them right out on my 12 ton press.

Hey guys. All i need to do the lift is 4 shocks....can anybody hook me up with some used ones or something. thanks
