Old gas

I would have never noticed my bezel had it not been for the keen eyes of those on this board catching others! I'm just glad i checked mine before i got "busted"! I bought my cruiser with the bezel upside down and after seeing some of the older bezels with the "Land Cruiser" stamped in, I'm thinking about getting mine stamped or just getting some vinyl cut to put on the bezel. Anybody try to stamp their own? I'm wondering if a machine shop could do it, I just don't want it to come out crooked and crappy looking! I've seen how much the stamped one's go for on Ebay and there are other things on my cruiser i would much rather spend the money on!

Ehsan in Pakistan is stamping them. I don't know if he follows this board, but do a search on Pirate 4x4 if your interested.

Thanks Bill ;)

Dave- I hate to disagree with you, but the thick part of the bezel has the holes for the plate. Plus I do have a Landcruiser on the grill and it is exactly centered. So If I flip it like you say, the lisc. plate holes will be on the top and the landcruiser will no longer be centered.
Now I agree that someone could have drilled the holes on the wrong side before I got it, and someone could have centered the Landcruiser wrong on the grill before I got it.

I think it looks great the way it is. But based on your experiance I will also agree that it is possibly wrong from stock. At least I learned something new. Thats the purpose of these forums anyways.

I would definitely replace the old gas with new gas and add either Sta-Bil or the POR 15 Gas Stabilizer which is super good stuff. Old gas will congeal and completely screw up fuel systems. As far as how to dispose of it, most municipalities offer a hazardous waste dropoff site a few times a year. You might just check a local city office and see if/when/where they offer such a service. You can even dispose of old batteries, old appliances, old antifreeze etc legally at these events. Or you can save the gas for a smokey bonfire as suggested above! Make sure you have lots and lots of beer around to douse the flames if they get too out of control, then if no such flame situation, just drink em! HTH.

Ken, I have never seen OEM holes in the bezel for a license plate! There are OEM license plate holders that bolt to the bumper. I challenge anyone to find literature from Toyota showing the bezel any other way than thick part up. And Ken, look closely to see if your grill's "Land Cruiser" is really in the correct place.

Please don't get me wrong! I am not trying to get into an arguement, here. Just good natured discussion (and sorry for the digression from the post topic). I had my bezel on upside down at one time, too. :D

Thanks Dave. I enjoy a good natured discussion, and it has been very enlightning. I am sure you are right and someone messed it up by drilling holes in the bezel in the wrong place. Notice I changed my profile to say, "I like my Bezel upside down"

And in the spirit of the discussion, you should be careful how you dispose of the gas. You might want to use it as lighter fluid for starting a fire, or put it in a fire safe pot or other and let it burn.

Dilution is the solution to pollution. Put it in a safe place and let it evaporate, if you can. That is probably the safest and most environmentally correct way of disposing of it, if you have no other practical use for it. Most solvents should be disposed of this way.

I have never seen anything but toyota on the front in the grill, never the word Land Cruiser. Except on the really old bezels. A 77 had a bracket on the bumper, passanger side for the license plate. Don't ya just love P. O.'s. (One reason Iwill never sell my one owner 78)

Yah, yer right. Toyota. What WAS I thinking. :slap:
