I was in my storage area yesterday and checked a old block I have. Bought it off ebay years ago because it had a good crank shaft with it. I checked the date code code 7 10 25 that works out to be Oct. 25 1957. I have no history and how it came to be in this country. Only one FJ25 brought into the country in 1958. I would think that would have been later in the year. All the 25s imported by Toyota had a 58 production date. So how did this 57 block get here:hmm:
 
Maybe it is a 1967 replacement engine block?
IIRC, there is no difference in the block & crank for E-1967.


This engeine has only five digits after the F in the serial numbers Ever one else I've seen have six. It's a 57 not a 67.

By Oct 67 Toyota was making the F145 not F135 to put in the 68 FJ40s.

Oh yeah, a 5-digit serial does make it pretty early. F engines went in buses & dumptrucks & forklifts &..., so the numbers go up pretty fast, even though few cruisers were produced.
