I've been watching their inventory for a while now and it seems like the LCs and LXs have been on that lot for close to a year.

Prices actually seem pretty high for the milage compared to what I have been seeing at other dealers. Those prices seem more on par with 110-125kish milage vehicles.

In skimming the pics, it's clear that they know what knowledgeable shoppers want to see in the pics. Belt service sticker, underbody, bottom edge of upper liftgate, etc.

I checked them out when I was looking for my 100, like a few other dealers out westward they buy 100s from the northeast with questionable underbody rust, "cure it" which is really just painting the underbody, then sell the heck out of it.
I would check the Carfax and would say 9 out of 10 were in high salt areas for at least 5 years. Buyer beware for sure.

I almost drove up there when I was on my search last year. Took a bit more questioning than I'd like for them to reveal they only had 1 of the 2 third row seats. I think they were hoping to procure a set. But they were quick to send underbody pictures & even tried to obtain previous maintenance records from the Houston shop the PO used for oil changes/maintenance. (Javier's?)

For what it's worth, I called a local mechanic to get the ball rolling on a PPI and he knew the father/son team by name...he'd bought a car from them before and had good things to say.

I visited these guys when I was in OKC for work last fall when i was in the market for a 100 or 200 series. The owner seemed very knowledgeable on the cruiser market and had several (including a nice 60) on hand. I think the son drives a lifted and armored 100. They provide links to a carfax for all vehicles on their website, so they are not trying to hide the fact that some come from the rust belt. They have someone they send the vehicles to get undercoated (not saying I would go this route, but this is what they do). Overall I would buy from them if they had something with the mileage, history and price I was looking for, but I ended up finding my 100 series closer to home in CO.

I bought my 05 from them last week! I'm quite happy with the deal.
The owner and his salesman were very accommodating and honest. By the time I decided to drive and get it, they had sent me close to 100 pics and answered a ton of questions. The sales guy Allen even walked me around the truck via FaceTime pointing out every imperfection. Even drove it while we were talking!
Prices were decent and I had zero concerns about driving it 500 miles home.

Any members live close to this dealer? In the market for another LX 470 or LC 100, have been keeping a close on this place for the past couple months. I live in CO, just trying to be efficient during the search...

Im nearby. Been dealing with them for a long time now (5 years). Every now and then they'll get something clean, but most are overpriced for their quality.

Thanks DirtDawg. That seems to be the current case. They have some clean lx 470's but seem super high to me. Specifically looking at a grey 2005 with approx. 185k miles, asking price is $19,000. Trying to get more info on rust, AHC condition, etc...

Take a bored engineer in the market for a 100 series and you get the whole morning gone by looking at autotrader. Here is an interesting graphic I made though. These are all for 100s within 500 miles of me. The green dots are private sellers, and the red dots are 100s for sale by Thoroughbred. They are definitely above average for most mileage segments.

The sweet spot for 100s seems to be between 150 and 200K miles for around 10K. You're basically done depreciating and will only incur maintenance costs.

Cruisers that haven't spent their lives in the snow belt deserve a premium.
How much are the manifolds on a 100?

Furhermore, I don't think one can lump LCs and LXs into the same bucket. The Lexus AHC system is bad news, as are its myriad of comfort and convenience features.

I would tend to agree, but this was his reply verbatim over email when I asked about price negotiations and market value. I get where he is coming from, but still tough to swallow.

" I will be totally honest with you. I have my own little bubble world that I live in. When pricing my cars I price them according to my thoughts and feelings reflected in the car itself. I know I should take Time to go online and do price comparison. However I don't have the time or energy having a small staff."

They have a consistently inflated price and the highest inventory i have seen. This is their way of cornering the market in their region, they can charge 20% more because noone else has any for sale

Strategy works for them I guess since they have the capital to buy and land to store the inventory.

Which is what's working in many other desirable, but low volume car markets. And it leads to price inflation.

The Porsche 993 market is dominated by resellers who scoop up clean units and then place hefty markups on them. Buyers have no choice but to go to these dealers to find the best ones at seemingly-absurd prices. It definitely takes capital to sit on these vehicles for the time necessary to find the right buyers.

The 60/62 market is stratified. Used-up ones are in the sub 15K range, Super clean ones are being offered at $25K and up.
