I’m reluctantly listing my incredibly fun 1981 BJ46 soft-top. I bought this about two yeares ago from Abe Russell (gr8ful) here on mud. He drove it down to me in OKC and I have loved it ever since. My oldest daughter is turning 16 soon and really wants my 200 but I am listing this in an effort to free up some cash and a parking space for a 100 for her. I’ve owned a dozen LCs of which half have been 40 series and this is the most fun to drive. I drive it to work often and around town on the weekends as much as I can. Great vintage look and super smooth mid-wheelbase. It’s the sweet spot of 40s.

1981(late) Imported from France- would be 1982 by US model year dating.
3B - 4spd
Factory PTO winch
Factory power steering
new soft top made by Teqtops and installed by Abe prior to delivery to me
I have had the front axle rebuilt at cruiser corps and replaced the original split steel rims with the original 40 series Steele’s you see here. Tires are Hankook MTs with good tread. Speedo doesn’t work and is in kms. Odometer is at 91000km

The bench seat in the back is out of a ram charger and I recovered it with a Mexican saddle blanket....my golden loves it!

Someone needs to enjoy this more than I can and help make a teenage girl’s LC dream come true.

Price: $17,500 - Interested in trades for later model, nice 100 series or 08/09 - 200.

She is a cutie :steer:

Taking a poll... would this be more marketable without the rear bench seat. Considering taking it out and reshooting pics.

no - that really has no bearing at all.

the main issues are identifying all rust on frame and body with differntiation between surface rust and rot.

interior floor shots and the health of engine - ie compression would basically sum it all up probably for most people.

- detail on these two fronts would give most people a clear picture of the "project" ahead/in front of them.
- most people here view cruisers as keepers.....vs drive it til it rusts out from under you. and many arent afraid of a little work. with a few of us demented enuff to tackle bigger projects. But most like to know what they are getting into - so the more details the better. brutal honesty about whats there is going to get the right person to come take a close up look and also will help get you in the selling price/ value ballpark (here) ........ to just kick on down the road to someone who wants to buy it and drive it til the frame snaps........well craigs and a local might be a quicker stab.

43/44/46's are great and deserve the time , busted knuckles and elbow grease.

i hope that helps.

Agreed. Thanks.

I’m guessing all the oil spots on the concrete are from the engine?

I assumed these had to be of a LR that was in that place before, and in France they don't use bonds only perfumes de voiture

Any chance I see a pic of the rear bench Sans Mexicano blanket, showing how you bolted it to the tub? Did it fit nice?
also are those 15” or 16” steel wheels they look good on that 46

15” Steelies From an Fj40. I solid 16” split steel last year

no pictures of the seat. It spanned the Tub so i drilled 4 holes and bolted it through the tub into holes already in the bench.
