So, now that I've owned the 60 for a while, I have trained my ears to listen for any new sound.

I now have a percolating sound eminating from the dash

Sounds like middle right middle height
generally behind the stereo hole.

my only guess would be coolant line to the rear heater
has air bubbles in it.

Any sagely pinpoints?

I doubt you could hear air in the heater lines since it's under pressure. Is it there all the time and constant, or only under certain conditions? Does it really sound like bubbling, or more like elves playing yahtzee?

mine does the same thing when it is cold out. Goes away once truck is warmed up.

air in the coolant system?

i get one that sorta sounds like a lot of water falling down behind the dash somewhere... as far as i can tell its the heater somehow... always done it and aint hurt nothin so far

exactly

Like what it would sound like if water we working its way down a gutter.

weird, no worries though

thanks

there's a hippy stashed in your dash. keep an eye on your food.

I recently...

I recently replaced a radiator hose on the front of the engine a week or so again and may not have burped it correctly to get air out. No actual leaking in the cab or under the dash. just the noise.

(Corbet, Eve is down for Sat....What time and what do we bring.)

You know what?? I realized that the truck is HEATING UP when the heater is on...
Could this mean that air in the system is going to the top (around Temp gauge sensor)
when the extra fluid is being pulled into heating duty???

Whats the best method for burping the coolant system?

Large incline, front up, heaters running (front and back) while filling??? (that's what I seem to remember)

just did mine a couple of days ago using the redneck funnel/duck tape method. worked like a charm. i can't make that engine run hot now. just drove home from work in about 34 degree weather, stopped at the beer store and left her running while i was inside. still not off the "C" by the time i got home. of course my heater wasn't too warm either but it's better than over heating as i was last week. there's a thread on here somewhere but basically get the passenger side as high as you can, take a long funnel and wrap duck tape around it till it seals off in the rad and leave her running with the heaters on while filling w/ coolant.

JT, I've got a special funnel designed for burping the system. I'll grab it out of the garage. Stop by the dealership today and your welcome to use it. I'm at the downtown location now across from south city market.

The rushing water sound is a common deal. You have some air in the system. Search BURP and you will fiond a ton of easy fixit advice.

Agreed...

I bet this thread re-starts at least once a month.

Gurgling, percolating, swishing, etc.

FWIW my 22-RET makes this noise when it is low on coolant. Something to do with the blown HG no doubt.......
:hillbilly:
Occurred to me that I'd better clarify that I'm not saying to look for HG issues, just that Toyota's seem to make this noise when there's air in the system.

Well ,thanks to Corbet, I found that the rad that appeared full, took a full bottle of waterwetter and 4 or 5 cups of 50/50.

Jacked the front passenger side of the truck up 6 or 7 inches

Used the special funnel, attached cold (engine), filled up halfway in the funnel, started up the engine, let it get to operating temp, massaged the hoses (yeah yeah yeah), turned on the heat, let it run for a while.

Seems to be properly burped.
We'll see if the Dozer Gnomes behind the dash go away.

THANKS CORBET

air in the hearter lines ............. mine does the sam thing ... what a pain in the a** it is to burp
