Oil temp spikes

[Four and a half]

I'm going to take it to my Toyota guy ASAP, but I'm getting oil temp spikes like crazy. Like up to the 3/4 mark of the guage. Coolant temp seems to stay nice and level, but the oil temp goes up when you use the throttle, and back down when you're off it, kind of. . . .

I'm hoping it's not the dreaded head gasket. Any words of advice before I take it to my guy?

I don't have an oil temp gauge.
Mine is oil pressure. My oil pressure goes from 1/8 to 7/8 on any given day. It is throttle and temperture related.

FOUR, what CJF is eluding to (and the rest of us are giggling to ourselves about) is the oil gauge is not a temperature gauge. It's a pressure gauge. And the readings you getting seem normal. Breathe easy.

Yes that is not oil temp it is oil pressure and it is totally fine to go from 1/8 - 7/8 between idle and load. Don't worry about it.

Good to see this post...I just got my 80 about a month ago and was wondering if such a huge range in oil pressure was normal!!
