Rebuilding the front knuckles and hubs on my 1978 FJ40. New bearings seals and discs (rotors).
I've installed the hubs, torqued them up to 43 ft/lbs, rotated, backed off the nut, rotated a few times and repeated.
All good except I have a lot more 'oil seal drag' on the left side( 18-20 lbs on my fish scale) than the right (10-12 lbs). Even with the nut backed off a turn.
I swapped the two hubs over. It is still tighter on the left. It doesn't feel notchy, just like the new outer oil seal is a fraction smaller/ tighter on the left side. Both hub and seal are lubed.
Before I install the locking hubs and finish the job, am I missing something important? or will this settle down after being run a while?
